I also have straight pvc for returns in my older pool. I found these - they have an expansion connector on one end for connecting to the straight pipe and the other end has a threaded connection. They have worked well for me: POLARIS 1 1/2IN STUB PIPE CONNECTION KIT - 9-100-8003

My fav, especially with your travertine choice is Sparkle blue. Next up would be Calais turquoise. IMHO the shimmer teal has too much grey, at least in the pics. It's tough with so many wonderful options to choose from.

Re: Lap Pool Renovation with Aquabright The water looks beautiful. The FC is only 3 but the FC/CYA chart calls for minimum FC of 5 and target of 8 for cya of 70 (always round up). Pool School - Chlorine / CYA Chart Have you tried identifying the stains using the puck test and the Vitamin C test?
