Overnight chlorine loss but no daytime loss

There was water rolled up with the cover on the reel that I dumped on the deck when rolling it back to the pool. I put it on the pool and it got rained on. When I rolled it back on the reel it rinsed the cover off into the pool. SWG controller has power to it (hardwired to the same timer as...

Overnight chlorine loss but no daytime loss

I broke out the solar cover after having it rolled up and covered for the summer. I didn't clean it first and it must have bred a bunch of algae (although nothing was visible) that got dumped in the pool as a couple of days later the pool got hazy white and chlorine consumption went up...

    SLAM again

I scrub everything I can, even the bottom even though my pool cleaner has scrubbers and is running 24x7 for the SLAM. I couldn't figure out how to remove the light but I looked again and saw a spot of what I thought was corrosion that was really the hole for the retaining screw. Tried to...

    SLAM again

I read on another thread someone else having the same problem with the Circupool SWCG. I've got a 2 circuit timer coming so I can turn it on 5 minutes after the pump starts. Water is not chilly, its nice and warm (86) as we have the pool heater on swim a few times a week. But water in pipes...

    SLAM again

SWCG has been off for both SLAMs and using LC and keeping it at SLAM level. Plan on getting CYA back up to 60 or 70 once done with the SLAM as keeping FC in the 20's with a high CYA sucks. Reagents were less than 6 months old and since last SLAM used them up now less than a month old from...

    SLAM again

SLAMed and now having to SLAM again a couple of weeks later. Trying to figure out what went wrong and what do I need to do so I don't need to SLAM every couple of weeks. Beginning of December had chlorine levels crash on me despite kicking SWCG to 100%. Probably due to a couple of issues...

    Just installed SWG

Got the SWG dialed in and FC is stable. Good call on not raising the PH. Its slowly climbed up to about 8 now. Ready for my first acid addition. I've got a couple of pounds of dry acid I used to test some stains. I know its not recommended when using an SWG but is it OK to use it up before...

    Just installed SWG

Gotcha. I was planning on raising pH some because I planned on adding more CYA and the last CYA addition dropped my pH quite a bit. I'll just montor the pH instead and hold off on CYA for now.

    Just installed SWG

Thanks for the suggestions. PoolMath says my SWG @ 50% will produce 2.4 FC in a day at my 8 hour run time and 1.2 FC @ 25%. If its right I should be about right or it will still creep up a little FC. We'll see.

    Just installed SWG

New to pool maintenance and have been monitoring my PB with my TF-Pro test kit: way over chlorinate each week with liquid (ugh) and float a couple of tablets. Decided to install a SWG and take it over. I just installed my SWG yesterday and axed the PB and tablets. Prior to install I brought...

First Pool - Where From Here?

Thanks for your insights. I've read through Pool Care Basics a couple of times but its all new and I'm trying to make sure I understand it correctly. I asked the PB why he was putting pucks in the skimmer when I had a tablet chlorinator. Oh, those chlorinators get clogged and are just...

First Pool - Where From Here?

First time pool owner - bought a house with an in-ground pebble surface pool. Have had a service for the last couple of months while we got settled in the house. I just got my TF-Pro test kit and am getting ready to dump the service, take over maintenance and prepare to convert to a SWG...
