Thank you James. Obviously I have the wrong motor.

    Heat pump fan motor

I'm still struggling with this. I am attaching a diagram of how my 4-wire fan is currently wired and an image from the new fan. Can someone provide a definitive wiring solution? I checked resistance and there is no resistance between my existing yellow and red, some resistance between yellow...

    Heat pump fan motor

Follow-up I put the fan on the shaft. When I turn it on the fan barely moves. If I give a little nudge in the correct direction it spins up and works fine. I guess that means the capacitor. The first fan had two separate capacitor leads, the instructions above said to attach the new yellow...

    Heat pump fan motor

Hello everyone, I'm replacing the fan motor on an old EUS (Hayward) heat pump. I was originally confused by the fact that the replacement motor had 3 wires plus ground and the old motor had 4 wires plus ground. I found a 10-year old thread that addressed this very issue and resolved the...

    Skimmer leak repair

    Skimmer leak repair

I thought I would post this DYI for anyone else that was having a similar issue. I couldn't find anything in a forum search. I was getting over a one-inch per day water level drop. NOAA data says my evaporation should be about 1/8” per day so I knew I had a leak somewhere. The first step was...

Counterintuitive CYA level / chlorine consumption question

Follow-up. I did before and after adding chlorine tests. ajw22 was right, the issue is chlorine strength. The batch I have is nearly twice as strong as a batch I had in May. If I've estimated my pool volume correctly, this batch is nearly 20%.

Counterintuitive CYA level / chlorine consumption question

I thought about that and asked if anyone had mentioned weak chlorine. The clerk said no, but that doesn't mean he hadn't. These are the refillable jugs, not retail packaging. It's a "Pro" designated Leslies store so I think their product turnover is pretty good.

Counterintuitive CYA level / chlorine consumption question

First post - hi everyone! Started maintaining my pool last fall when I bought the house. Previous owner had been using a puck dispenser with trichlor and CYA level was 220. I've managed to work the CYA level down to 50 with drain/fills and the help of a tropical storm. I keep excellent...
