Help making a plan to clean up the water

Thank you both for the follow up. The pool is free from algae, the water is clear and I passed the oclt. Since I stopped the SLAM and reverted to TFP chlorine levels I have been working on getting TA down. When my pH gets above 7.8 CC gets closer to 0 so I also suspected something was...

Help making a plan to clean up the water

This turned out to be a bad plan. I've brought 4.5 weeks of SLAM to an end. Between chlorine and test kit refills I've spent pool store money and my CC is still consistently >0.5. I'll try again this winter when I'll lose less chlorine to sun and the everything is done dropping leaves in the...

Help making a plan to clean up the water

Thanks @borjis. I'll isolate the solar as soon I confirm my FC is up to 16 for today. Murphy was blowing leaves and who knows what else in the pool last night.

@Dirk I see you have solar panels and live down the street. Have you ever had to do a SLAM?

Help making a plan to clean up the water

Anyone here have experience doing a SLAM with a solar panels? They are the second to the last thing on my list of possible causes of high CC numbers. When doing a SLAM do you run your solar 24/7 or no different than normal? I wrapped up week 4 of the SLAM with crystal clear water, OCLT...

Help making a plan to clean up the water

I brushed, vacuumed then backwashed on Saturday. The pressure had increased from 8.5 to 9.5. The sight glass went from cloudy to clear in a couple of seconds. I kept going for a few minutes until my lawn couldn't hold any more water which meant shortening the rinse to a minute after prime...

How much chlorine do I need to kill algae, given these parameters?

How does the cost of a reverse osmosis filter service compare to a drain and refill? Google says someone in the Sacramento area is charging $550 for 25000 gallons which is close to your pool size. Also, don't all your posts need a Prop 65 warning on them?

Help making a plan to clean up the water

Quick update, then a question. Saturday morning poured in a gallon of Chlorine to raise the FC to 24, brushed and vacuumed then headed for the coast. Had a great time with the fam, got home after dark on Sunday. Monday morning FC was down to 7.5 and thank goodness I let it fall. pH was off...

Help making a plan to clean up the water

"See the light as it shines on the sea? It's blinding But no one knows, how deep it goes And it seems like it's calling out to me, so come find me And let me know, what's beyond that line, will I cross that line?" -Moana CC of 2. So far the end of SLAM is just a mythical place I've read...

Help making a plan to clean up the water

Thanks @Flying Tivo that'll get me by until the refill comes. Your comment also got me to re-read the extended test directions for the FAS-DPD test and saw that >10 the test error is +/- 10%. My pool started from a typical too much everything except chlorine when I bought the house and the...

Help making a plan to clean up the water

Test and add chlorine 3 times a day. Brush in the morning. Vacuum at lunch. The green is all gone. Some black may be coming and going on the bottom, or my eyes are playing tricks on me. Bumped the pump up from 1000 to 1500 rpm and got higher CC results. Backwashed the filter tonight even...
