    SWCG “On Time”

Thanks for the quick replies, and the additional reading threads. My pool is 27,000 gallons, and I’m looking at the circupool RJ45+ right now. So, I’m guessing I might only need 25% or so. I also live in Chicago, and only have my pool open for 4 or 5 months a year. So, I am hoping that I can get...

    SWCG “On Time”

So, I’ve been running a automatic liquid chlorine dispenser for about 10 years, it has finally died, and was originally looking to replace it. But, then I thought it might be time to move to SWCG. I’ve been doing research, and have found a few threads that the typical life span is 10,000 hours...

New Home / Pool. Found TFP too late! Need Help

If the previous owners have only used that 3' tabs for the life of the pool, you could very well have way too much CYA in the water right now. I had a CYA around 600 last year, and needed to drain my pool to get it back to under 50. DO NOT use those tabs until your kit arrives. If your CYA is...

First time opening - CYA and CC question

When SLAMing (and only when SLAMing), I use a 5ml sample. I got a $3 medicine dropper at Walgreens that lets me get a very accurate 5ml level of water. That gives me 1 drop per 1 ppm FC level. That is plenty accurate when checking high chlorine levels during a SLAM, and saves a ton of reagents...

    OMG! Easiest Pool Opening EVER

Well, I was surprised on how it looked when the cover came off. I knew I would be able to get it looking good fast, after what I learned last year, but I didn't expect to see the drains with the pool being idle for 7 months over the Chicago winter. But, now my auto-chlorinator will hold my SLAM...

    OMG! Easiest Pool Opening EVER

Last Year, before finding TPF, my pool was still a green swamp 2 weeks after opening. But not this year, thanks to TFP. Now that this site has taught me how to handle Pool care, this is what my Pool looks like on opening day, BEFORE I even started to add chlorine.

    Newbie Fighting Algae

Hi Viscid, I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier. I have been gone from this forum for a very long time, as it has been a VERY busy summer for me. I'm assuming you have the pool closed now, but may have not gotten your CYA down to where you want it. When you open next year, if your CYA is still...

Not done with my SLAM but out of R-0871

During my SLAM, I only used 5ml of water, instead of 10. That gave me 1 drop per FC, and saved on my 871 usage. I used a medicine dropper (like $3) from Walgreens to keep it fairly accurate. I don't test that way on a daily basis, but it works great during a SLAM.

Looking forward to dropping my pool service... and my first test results are in...

Do you know how the pool service was chlorinating your pool? Were they using DiChlor or pucks? Many hard forms of chlorine will also lower your pH, which is why you will be fighting that. That would also be what has your CYA so high. If you are moving away from how they chlorinate, and using...

    Neighbor Issues

YeeeeeHaaaaaa Tree is trimmed!! No more neighbor leaves over my pool. The skimmers and the pool cleaner are already bored, and talking about taking a vacation together.
