    Solar cover straps

Where do you get good straps for attaching your solar cover to the pool cover reel. The ones you buy with the attachment (plastic) hardware disintegrate in the heat and sun of Arizona. Any suggestions as to where to buy some more durable strapping?

    Draining a fiberglass pool safely

Thanks for the advice, I’m gonna do the no drain exchange and monitor chemistry. Pool is 20 years old, and I don’t want to cause any problems that need to be fixed! I’m gonna do a modified no drain exchange exchange and drain it down about 2 feet (pool is 5’ deep) and then refill.

    Draining a fiberglass pool safely

How far down can you drain a fiberglass pool in Western Arizona? I am drawing due to the water being about 5 years old and am struggling with balancing the water chemistry. Is it better to drain halfway and then refill?

    Solar cover questions

Time to replace the solar cover. I can only get them to last about 2 years in the Arizona sun and heat. Is a clear solar cover longer lasting than blue? What is a good mil thickness? Who makes a good solar cover? What can I do to make them last longer?

    Help!

Well, after numerous hours and the first double dose of Scaltec, the pool is all scrubbed down nd pretty much free of calcium buildup. Found out that big 4x10 scrubbing pads from Home Depot worked the best!

    Help!

You are so right! If the scaletec doesn’t work I’ll give the bluetec a try! I had tried the liquid chlorine and Muriatic acid but due to high ph in our city water (8.0) it was extremely difficult to control the ph and with the back injury it got away from me. I’m going back to tabs and will...

    Help!

Thank you for your help! I premixed my Muriatic acid and drizzled it around the deep end of the pool. My ph came down to 7.6. That worked better for me than adding in front of jets. Now to scrub the walls of the pool to remove the calcium buildup.
