I aim for 7.2 to 7.4. I suspect the liquid chlorine since it's "sodium" hypochlorite but I am not sure if it's related to NaCl.

After taking Jim's advice, I am back in business. I did the SLAM process and after a lot of liquid chlorine, and a lot of backwashing and rinsing the filter, the pool cleared up and the overnight test shows no FC loss. Most importantly, the filter runs like it's supposed to. In summary, the...

I'll take the advice of Jim, and others in this site to SLAM the pool and backwash the filter constantly until I get rid of the algae. Hopefully then, the filter will run smoothly again. I may have to leave the filter on "recirculate" overnight.
