    Help with pH

That's kind of what I was wondering about because I don't know a kit that lets you go down to 6.5 unless you do some reverse math with base demand. I would listen to Frogabog. Good advice. If your pH truly is that low, then the advice is perfect. 1) Aerate 2) Add a lot of bleach.

    Help with pH

How are you measuring a pH of 6.5/6.8? 7.5 is good and 7.8 is at the very top of what you should have.

Help me out on my CYA please

I saw my CYA rise. It wasn't the 19 that the calculator had predicted, but it was close. I will likely have 12 lbs of HTH in my pool by the time I'm satisfied. I would certainly call and inform (complain).

Expected CYA number to jump to 30-40, nothing

Thanks Linen, I'm on the east side, but we have a Fleet Farm near 36 and 694. My local Home Depot says they have 5 boxes in store somewhere. (I have failed to find it each time I've been there for other things, but I've yet to ask.) My CYA rose to around 45 after putting another 4lbs. I'm...

Help me out on my CYA please

Hrmmm, I have a separate thread entailing my CYA issues as well. Also using HTH from Walmart, not seeing the increase I had expected. Let me know how the pool supply stabilizer goes. I had put 4lbs in my pool on Sunday and I get back home tonight, so I'll give it a test and see if I am...

Expected CYA number to jump to 30-40, nothing

Agreed, based on what I can tell it's likely due to aeration that happens as a byproduct of the SWG chemical process. As my TA is a bit on the higher end, this should help to bring that down as well. (7.5 with 4lbs of CYA results in about 7.15 pH I believe) Now I just need to find Muriatic...

Expected CYA number to jump to 30-40, nothing

1 Week after 4 lbs of HTH Stabilizer (96% CYA): FC 15 CC .5 pH 7.5 TA 100 CH 185 CYA 30 We had a lot of people in the pool yesterday so these numbers were in a freshly uncovered pool after an evening boost with the SWG. By boost, I mean ran at 30%. (Still trying to dial in the correct % on...

Changing Pool Light in Vinyl Pool

In case anyone else is like me and inherits random features with their pool I want to leave this link here that indicates the unit I have. URL needs [] so the BBCode isn't working properly.

Changing Pool Light in Vinyl Pool

Ok, quick update. I gave up on the unit when it wouldn't budge. I've learned that forcing something that won't move will usually only break it. I found out how to open what I thought was the junction box. What I found was the bulb and fiber optic cables. So it would seem I have a fiber...

Changing Pool Light in Vinyl Pool

So our pool light hasn't worked since we bought the house. There is a black and orange giant (1'x8"x8") box behind the diving board which I assume is the junction box. It has little switches that indicate things like "Power" "Remote" "Colorwheel". I've shut of power at this box and power at...

    Cyanuric Acid Solubility

Thanks for the insight. I see the sock method prescribed a lot. What is the reason for the sock in the skimmer and why should one not pour directly into the skimmer?

Expected CYA number to jump to 30-40, nothing

So, this pool (and the water) is not new. We had used the pucks as a way to provide some kind of chlorine to the pool when I'm out of town. (Even this year) There are at least 4-8 completely dissolved pucks worth of CYA in the pool as of the spring opening. I would have thought the CYA...

Expected CYA number to jump to 30-40, nothing

I have an estimated 25000 gallon pool. It's a simple rounded corner rectangular pool with a deep end. Vinyl. Minnesota. Brand new filters in a Hayward Cartridge Filter. Brand new main pump as the pump motor burned out. I added HTH Stabilizer which lists at 96% CYA. (I can not find CYA in...

Expected CYA number to jump to 30-40, nothing

I want to mark this thread as I'm having a similar issue. I've been trying to get my levels corrected over the past week so I can fire up my newly installed SWG. I added 4lbs of granular stabilizer (HTH walmart) last week expected CYA number to jump to 30-40. I tested when I got back this...
