    What's your current pool temp?

Farmgirl, I'm so sorry for your loss! I lost one of my Golden Retrievers a couple of weeks ago; she was ten. It's so hard to lose such a precious family member! I'm glad to see there are others who will swim at the lower temps - I'll be in as soon as mine hits 66, too!

    What's your current pool temp?

We're just getting the pool open today and the water temp is 58 degrees. When it hits 68, I'll be in it! (I'll get in at 66 in the fall but that's a tad too cold in the spring when I'm not used to it.) 72-76 is pretty perfect for me and when it hits 80, I complain, lol! I bought a solar heating...

Low chemical test numbers all around, wondering where to start?

Just opening the pool and while the water is very clear, my numbers are all quite low: FC 1 CC 0 TC 1 CYA <20 (filled cylinder to top and dot could still be seen clearly) TA 20 pH 7.2 Borates 0 (maybe 15) Salt 480 CH 75 Water temp: 58 I'm thinking I need to: 1) Bring CYA up to 70...

Annaul CYA Lost In Northern Climate

I live in Maine and we're opening our pool today. I just ran the tests and my CYA is really low too (<20) and upon opening last year, it was 60. All my readings are considerably lower this year so I'm thinking it is due to the fact that we got LOT more snow compared to the previous winter. I'm...

CYA - liquid vs powder amounts to raise CYA 20 points

Thanks, Richard! I suspected something was off but I had tried it on three different computers and kept getting the same results. After reading your reply, I took a closer look and realized it had to be something to do with the pool size. Sure enough... I was putting a comma in when I plugged in...

CYA - liquid vs powder amounts to raise CYA 20 points

I have a couple of questions regarding raising my CYA. CYA is currently 50 and according to TFP, I should bring that up to at least 70 (I have a SWG), correct? Pool Math says to add 0.1 oz liquid stabilizer but I only have the powder. It looks I can't add a small enough amount of powder since...

TFP vs Pool store suggestions for closing my pool

I believe I do, Dave, but please correct me if I'm wrong... ;) According to the chart, with a CYA of 70, the target shock FC would be 28, which is what I brought it up to last week using household chlorine bleach. It has since dropped down to 16 so I'm wondering if I should bring it back up...

TFP vs Pool store suggestions for closing my pool

This is our first year with a pool and our pool store guy basically told us to balance the water and then throw in four bottles of 12.5% Sodium Hypochlorite shock and a bottle of Polyquat. Since the pool has some residual salt dust on the bottom that was looking a little green, I shocked the...

Installing Circupool SWG - have a couple of questions

Oh yes, the salt has been in there for a few days now (3500) and the FC is where I want it, too (5). We turned it all on and set it at 70%, which is what the manual suggested (I had checked that before but missed it). Our pool in an a open area away from trees and I'm pretty much the only one...

Installing Circupool SWG - have a couple of questions

When the pool store set up my pool on Saturday, they installed the cell portion for us and my husband is doing the electrical right now. I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help me with. I've been trying to include a photo but it just tells me the file is too large so I'll try to...

First pool is going up this weekend! Very excited, but nervous.

Valuable information, thank-you once again, Pat! My first swim was lovely... a bit cold (72 in the pool, 56 out!) but lovely none the less. Sadly, it was too chilly to wait for the full moon to rise but at least I finally got my first swim in. :D I was very nervous about this swim because I...
