Are Hayward Sand Filter Tanks prone to fail?

Thanks for the confidence booster on the S244T durability I found a very cheap S244T, $40. The tank seems to be okay. It's definitely older because it has a 711 Valve on it. I filled it with water and under no pressure seems okay. I went to get a new spider gasket at the pool store and he said...

Are Hayward Sand Filter Tanks prone to fail?

I was shopping for a new filter and decided I would go bigger and considered the S224T from Hayward. I then began reading that a few tanks fail at the seams and that worried me. My current tank is undersized for my 17,000 gallon pool. It was purchased used over 10 years ago, because a neighbor...

    Finally getting there!

If it were me I would throw some liquid chlorine in there. The rain and sitting stagnant is going to get messy quick. What size pool? You didn't say. I have a aquabot rover. 4th robot I've owned. It wasn't 500 it was less than 400 on Amazon. That kit looks like a bunch of stuff that's way over...

    Sunheater Solar Panels in parallel?

Ok we're on the same page. I just can't boost pressure, but I can eliminate resistance. :)

    Sunheater Solar Panels in parallel?

The second pic is what I'll try next. That should be the optimal way.

    Sunheater Solar Panels in parallel?

Maybe I'm confusing volume with flow

    Sunheater Solar Panels in parallel?

Okay so if you double the area of pass through you won't get volume? Breathing through 2 straws vs 1 of the same diameter. If you have 4 hoses in a pool draining, it will drain faster than just one of the same diameter.

    Sunheater Solar Panels in parallel?

I added 1 45 degree fitting at the cross over. I tilted the T and spun the 90 coming out of the panel. Worked great. My theory is your flow is limited to your weakest link, before the panels it was the 1.5" pvc. When diverted there was your normal heavy filter flow. I added 2 panels in...

    Sunheater Solar Panels in parallel?

Yes, I was going to plumb all 4, but I'm going to do 2 loops for now. Best tool I ever bought was a ratcheting abs/pvc pipe cutter. :)

    Sunheater Solar Panels in parallel?

Just in case. This is the way they flow.

    Sunheater Solar Panels in parallel?

I have a set of 2 2'x20' panels on my garage roof. I have another set of 2, but would like to plumb them in parallel to increase flow. I talked to someone at smartpool and they didn't grasp my theory that parallel would increase my flow back to the return instead he said I'll lose heat...

    Alkalinity super high, please help!!

Learn something every day. I thought aeration was the only way to lower Alkalinity. Never knew acid could.

    Alkalinity super high, please help!!

Oh my question: I thought aeration was the only real way to drop TA. My basic thinking following this site for years was borax and acid control PH, baking soda raises PH and TA. Aeration drops TA.

I didn't ask my question. Lol I thought I was reading this all wrong.
