Official 2018 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

I've done a few smaller, regional competitions. I enjoy it, but it's a ton of work. I think if I entered more competitions I'd probably get burned out pretty quickly.

What did I do wrong smoking ribs?

If I were guessing, I'd say the straight apple juice was your problem. By sealing them in foil with plain juice you essentially steamed them-- removing all the great smoke flavor you'd just spent the last 3 hours creating. Like all BBQ, the more you cook ribs the more you'll get a feel for it. I...

    AGP light advice

I ordered one of those small, remote-control LED lights from Amazon. It should be delivered today. Since our pool is all aluminum, I plan to zip-tie the included steel plate to the side of our stairs and connect the light to the plate with the magnet. I'll let you know how it works.

Does anyone have experience with an AGP from MGK Pools

Luckily, I have a tractor with pallet forks so I was able to easily unload the pool from the truck and put it beside the concrete pad I'd had poured for it.

    AGP light advice

I have a 24x54 AGP with aluminum sides. I'd like an underwater light or two, but I'm overwhelmed with all the possibilities and don't know where to begin. Here is my "wish list" for the lights: 1. I don't want to cut any holes 2. I'd prefer L.E.D. (preferably with the ability to change colors)...

Does anyone have experience with an AGP from MGK Pools

I bought the 24x52 round Dauntless package from MGK last summer. Overall, I have to say I'm very happy with the pool, but there were major issues with MGK's customer service. At the time I ordered our pool I was told there was a lead time of 2-3 weeks. I ordered our pool sometime in May of...

    Pitcher Cocktails for parties!

I don't know if this drink has another name, but I call it Prescription Lemonade. It's always a hit and is pretty easy to make. Prescription Lemonade - 1 can frozen concentrated lemonade (I prefer Minute Made) - 4 tablespoons pureed frozen strawberries (the kind with sugar already added) - 8...

JohnT: That is a really nice 5th wheel! We currently have a 32 foot Keystone Laredo with the bunkhouse. We really like it, but I'd like to upgrade to a Grand Design. They have a bunkhouse model I really like.

    No clue in NE Missouri.

Thanks to you, too! *ETA* With a few more weeks on TFP and a few (hundred) more questions, I might have to change my signature line to "A small clue as to what I'm doing-- thanks to TFP."

That's very helpful, thanks! I'll go add an additional 60 ounces of bleach which will bring me up to 11 according to the Pool Math table. Any thoughts or concerns on the other numbers?

Yes, I accidentally added that much CYA. In one of your earlier posts you suggested adding 10 ppm of CYA. When I went to add it, I remembered your recommendation as 20 ppm, so I added more CYA than I was supposed to. Once I realized my mistake I figured my total CYA would be around 55 when I...
