Trouble getting TA to 50 and staying there

Hmmmmm...well now I'm really perplexed. Does rain have acid in it that would make the TA go down or the only way TA drops is from some sort of chemical? I consistently chlorinate w/liquid and only occasionally use tabs. Even when I'm not using chlorine tabs, my TA stays at 40.

Trouble getting TA to 50 and staying there

To clarify, my TA isn't moving - it's consistently staying at 40ppm....unless I add baking soda, then it'll rise to 50ppm, but then drops back to 40 w/in a couple of days. I just read that it needed to be at least 50ppm, but also read to leave it alone if pH is good. I just want to make sure...

Trouble getting TA to 50 and staying there

Lower TA? I was under the impression that my TA was too low at 40ppm? Are you saying it's too high?

Trouble getting TA to 50 and staying there

I've read not to worry about TA as long as it is at least at 50ppm. The problem is, I can't seem to get it to 50ppm and when I do, it doesn't stay there for long. All my numbers are ok (I think), water looks good, but I want to make sure I'm not damaging anything and would like to know if I...

Low PH & Low TA after SLAM complete

Thank you! Are you saying that a PH of 7.0 is ok, then? I'm so worried I'm going to ruin something, and want to make sure I do what I can to keep things nice as we just invested over 50k in "fixing" our hot-mess of a pool that came with the house we recently bought. :) I just checked and my...

Low PH & Low TA after SLAM complete

New to pool ownership & TFP. Just completed the SLAM process and both PH & TA are low and want to make sure it is ok to add Soda Ash and confirm how much to add, as our filter is still running from the SLAM process and I don't want to damage our equipment. We have a 21,120 gallon inground...
