    Test Kit

I bought a Taylor K0006 kit but wish I'd ordered the TF-100 XL as I've already purchased additional reagents. Pool School - Test Kits Compared

Best Landscaping for Next to Pool

Huge difference for me replacing all of my planting areas around the pool with decking. Need to skim a fraction of the insects I used to. Far less debris too.

    Tips and Tricks

What a great thread. Ordering hairnets next. A couple leaf blower tips from me. I have a lot of maples around my property. I usually open before those stupid helicopters finish falling. But typically I have loads of leaves and other junk on the cover before it comes off and will get a couple...

    Help w 1st SLAM

I followed the process from pool school for adding DE to my sand filter and was clear inside a couple days. I add it back after each back wash. It did seem to make a difference for me.

First TFP Opening - huge thanks

Indeed - already planning to. I was trying to do from my mobile app but guess I need to be on a web browser for the links to work.

First TFP Opening - huge thanks

We finally get some hot weather in New England. I was clearing a gutter and looked down at this sparkling pool earlier. There was a nice breeze giving it a ripple. If anyone is in doubt, it works. So far I'm through 6 gallons of bleach (total) and maintaining nice numbers this last few days...

Why so much hate on pool store's water test?

Re: Why so much hate on pool store's water test? Test with strips, keep floaters loaded with pucks (buy massive buckets to save store trips), throw some shock in every Sunday, add Phosfree when it gets a bit cloudy and/or use the 'clarifier' stuff and go to the pool store when things go bad...

Why so much hate on pool store's water test?

Re: Why so much hate on pool store's water test? I think at the corporate level they must have a set of policies and training procedures that promote upselling wherever possible. They must, surely, otherwise they'd be the worst business on the face of the planet and completely irresponsible to...

Trying to wrap up my SLAM....i added DE to sand filter...is this supposed to happen?

I did this last weekend. I back-washed multiple times a day for the first few days and like you I didn't leave it in overnight. I was was trying to backwash at a 30% raise but it hit 50% a couple times. After the first few days I haven't noticed anything unusual, I haven't back washed since...

Help......I am not sure what to do to get the water to clear up.

I did what Richard said. I picked up a 10lb bag (smallest they had) for 8.99. It will likely last me a life time, if I back wash every day, twice. However, it worked great. Keep an eye on the filter pressure like they say, but I was pretty much clear in 3 days mixing up the vac, skimmer and...

    12v Aqualumin iii

Before I spend anymore time looking. Is anyone aware of an LED option with more light output than the stock 100w bulb? I think I can get a 150w 12v halogen bulb, is that the brightest people have seen? I'm kind of regretting going low voltage when I replaced it now, it's pretty dim.

HELP!!! My pool is a milky bluish white

The DE finished my process off beautifully, it's a great recommendation. Keep an eye on filter pressure while doing it. After 5 days of the DE, and having followed all the same advice you are following here, if it wasn't for a little pollen and a few small leaves I wouldn't be able to see my water.

Cloudy water for about 2 weeks now

I followed the process of adding DE to my sand filter and the change in two days was excellent. I went from clean-but-cloudy to clear. I can see specks on the floor in the deep end.

    Post SLAM balancing

Taking my PH to 7.2 will raise TA from 80 to 90 according to poolmath - seems reasonable, right? Going to be light on swimmers for a little while, waters freezing. Had a few crazy kids in there yesterday but it's unseasonably cold here.

    Post SLAM balancing

So a big thanks to all who helped me direct the last week, and also anyone and everyone that has ever posted and/or answered other threads on here. It's been quite the education. Not only do I have a clear pool, I know why and used nothing but Chlorine and DE for the sand filter!! So my SLAM...
