    An unusual pool build

As others have commented, very nice indeed. :goodjob: +1 on John Bridge Forum. He also has one of the best books on laying tile.

    Inground-aboveground hybrid with partial glass

That is quite an amazing and cool looking pool! I'd be so scared of that glass breaking if it were me. But it looks great! :goodjob:

Pool Heating which is best open to sun or clear bubble cover

I have about the same size pool as you do except I'm in the Dallas area. I use a blue solar cover in the spring and fall. I'm able to get my pool into the high 70s by the end of March, and keep it in the high 70s until the end of October. My first year with the pool, without the cover, the...

What Sealer Should I Use on a Travertine Deck?

I'll second the johnbridge tile forum. Great place for info! I trained and worked as a tile layer in Germany and still do quite a bit of odd jobs on the side now. John's forum is always a great place to learn about new products and techniquies. As I said in my earlier post, I don't know that...

How often do you add your bleach?

In season, I test daily and add bleach daily. I need MA every couple of days. In the winter, I test weekly and add what's needed weekly. Even after 7 days, there really isn't much of a change.

What Sealer Should I Use on a Travertine Deck?

I'm not familiar with travertine pavers, but I am familar with travertine tiles. There is a very good brand of sealer made by StoneTech you might want to look at. It's a product made by DuPont. They have different types of sealers depending on what you are looking for (enhancing effects, etc.).

Everyone's best product to make life easier??

For me, I think the Wall Whale has got to be the winner. The price is nice, and it performs exactly the way its supposed to. Second place would be the solar blanket. Without an installed heater, this allows us to enjoy the pool about two months longer than we would without it.

I lurk in the forums a few times each week.

    Concrete pool up north

Henry, a very interesting build indeed. In your plan, I only see one spot for a main drain. Will this be an anti-vortex drain, or is that not a requirement?

First Winter with 3 month old pool

In the Dallas area as well. Once swimming season is over, I normally remove the solar cover and store it in the garage. I'll pull it out again in March. It's just easier to do any needed maintenance without the cover. I have my freeze protector set at 37 degrees. I normally run the pump in...

    CH in the DFW area

True. But I don't backwash that often. I've only backwashed once this year.

    CH in the DFW area

Jason, I'm in McKinney and have not had an issue with CH. Currently running around 240.

    Liquid chlorine vs the puck

I did some calcs last year when I started using BBB. They actually came out close to the same (using 6% Walmart Bleach). If just looking at the bleach it was less expensive, but I used more Muriatic Acid to control the PH. But the advantage to using liquid is that you have better control over...

Need to re-tile my waterline tile in my gunite pool.

I worked as a tile layer in my younger days and still do quite a bit of tiling (although not professionally anymore). I agree with using a latex modified thinset as duraleigh suggested. I would just like to add that "thinset" is supposed to be a mortar mix and not a mastic. Mastic is not...

    Liquidator question

Re: LQ is rock solid I too hope that a solution for the WS problem is found, and its something manageable. However, I take exception to the overly sensitive comment. While I am not anti-Liquidator by any means (other than for myself), the equipment has just not worked for me. I tried new...
