Lost a foot of water, no prime

You can hire people to do pressure tests for pools. I would imagine plumbing is plumbing, regardless of a fountain or pool, so you might want to contact a pool repair company to do a pressure test. However, if you turn off the pump completely and the entire fountain drains, you may have a...

getting sand in pool, but laterals are fine

I have a similar problem right now. I am still getting some sand in my pool, but what I found when I emptied the tank was that the laterals were fine, but the base of the lateral assembly had a hairline crack in it. This definitely was opening up when 300 lbs of sand was on top of it, as well...

    Valve leak

The replacement of the pump and filter are up to you and usually depend on age and performance. I know people who have had he same filter and pump for years without problems. As far as your leak goes it sounds like you may need a new spider gasket in your multi port valve. These are very easy to...

A whole lot of problems; need advice

There could very well still be a drain plug in place, or perhaps the valves are not situated correctly. Some pool owners, and companies, completely close the valves for winterization. Once this occurs, it is impossible to completely open the valves without unscrewing the stopper and lifting...

    Low Skimmer Suction

If you leave the air relief valve open and no water ever comes out, odds are you are constantly sucking air on the suction side, which would explain the lack of skimmer action. It sounds like you need to get your potential leak (or whatever is causing you to have to leave the relief valve open)...

The weirdest thing, when I turn my pump OFF is when my problem starts...

Seems like a leak at the pump basket lid. You could try putting soapy water around the lid and see if it gets drawn in when the pump is running. Even if it doesn't, there should not be any water coming out there, so the gasket may need to be replaced. As far as the chlorinator goes, see if...

Skimmer isn't sucking took for ever to prime too

Once pump is primed, does it run fine until it is shut off? You may be manually priming the pump and just forcing water into the filter and returns. Have you made sure you have all valves on suction side open?

    Sand in Pool

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was away for a few days. Here is the latest: Test results are all good. I don't have a chemical test kit, but I use the test strips and have also taken a sample to my local pool store (which is run by a relative, so pretty reputable). If anything, my FC is...

    Sand in Pool

Most of it puffs away when brushed, but eventually settles again. The water is clear and all the levels are within the proper range.

    Sand in Pool

Yes, I backwashed for about 2 minutes and then ran the rinse cycle for about 1 minute.
