    Water STILL cloudy

Here's what I did to the steps. Just put in a fitting so I can hook my vacuum line to the center of the bottom step and suck the water out... I put in a second fitting so I can hook up my inlet line and pump fresh clean water under the steps... I figure if I do this one a month or so I...

    Water STILL cloudy

Update: The water was clearing up pretty nicely last week, not perfect but it was getting there; the kids even got in it for a few minutes. Then this weekend I decided to pull the steps out to see if they were the culprit. Boy were they! Apparently those steps have NO flow through them despite...

    Water STILL cloudy

Thanks, I'll keep it at shock! The first 2 are mostly true but I'll be more comfortable waiting until I'm sure.

    Water STILL cloudy

Thanks guys. The water has looked like that for about a week now so I'll keep the filter running and stop backwashing for a while. I need to change my pressure gauge so I can tell when it wants to be cleaned. Should I keep it at shock level now that the algae is dead or is it alright to bring...

    Water STILL cloudy

Here's few pics from this morning. You can almost see the main drain in this pic It's not near as bad as it was but's it not clear either. Maybe another floc?

    Water STILL cloudy

Hey guys need your advice. Over the winter I did nothing to the pool. In March I started my battle with the algae which went pretty well. I used enough bleach to sanitize a small lake, but the almost black water turned bright green then gray then cloudy blue. I've been running the filter 24/7...

    My chlorine level isn't dropping...

I do have an auto chlorinator but it's been turned down to between off and 1/4. Maybe I should turn it off until the level drops. It's uncovered and exposed to sunlight ( the little we have been getting lately) but has not had much activity lately as I haven't let the kids get in until the FC...

    My chlorine level isn't dropping...

...in my 10400 gallon AGP. Last weekend I had a nice neon green pool and a chlorine level of 1PPM so I added right at 3 gallons of bleach as instructed by the pool calculator. The next morning the water still had a greenish blue tint (i didn't check the numbers) but I added almost 3 more gallons...

    BBB with puck auto chlorinator

OK, the pool is looking better now. It's more blue/clear/cloudy now, no more green. I can see the main drain and from the deck can see the design on the liner. I received my TF-100 today and decided to test my "skills" or lack thereof with the computer at ace. My numbers: ACE...

    BBB with puck auto chlorinator

I went back to ACE (in OP) after adding the recommend chemicals to bring up my pH and this is my current numbers: FC: 0 TC: 0.8 CC: 0.8 pH: 7.5 CH: 70 TA: 88 CYA: 40 So now I've moved on to super-chlorination and added (according to poolcalc) 2.9 gallons of 5.25% bleach. How long should I wait...

    BBB with puck auto chlorinator

I wasn't able to adjust the pH tonight due to my daughters dance recital so I'll jump on it in the AM, but why would my pH be in the negitive, -6.5? That's obviously incorrect but what would make it read SO far off of the scale?

    BBB with puck auto chlorinator

OK now I have numbers. From poolstore: FC: 0.0 TC: 0.4 CC: 0.4 pH: -6.5? OUCH! Hardness: 60 Alkalinity: 0.0 CYA: 40 Do they sell borax by the cubic yard? I had them re-run the test and the pH came out the same so I'm not sure what that means. They also recommended 21lbs of calcium plus, but...

    BBB with puck auto chlorinator

Thanks for the quick response. The pool is an above ground vinyl lined 21' by 4' about 10K gallons with a sand filter. The kit will test FC, CC, pH, Acid demand and TA (I know thats 5 test but the kit says 4? go figure). So yesterday was the first time I used this kit up until then I was using...
