For a sub panel you need 2 hots a neutral and a ground. Local codes may or may not require a ground rod.

It depends on your fixture, but the j&j purewhite 2 and the pentair amerlite white upgrade are the 2 that I have used with great results.

You are going to need to cut below the check valve and replace it. I think this is a no brainer, but also replace the crappy home depot valve while you are at it.

The filter looks like a Purex/Trition tr60 which is now a pentair tr-60. A very common filter.

I really like the Oreq poles. The have both an external and internal locking cam to keep them from slipping while vacuuming. Oreq I haven't used the animal line but the Mako, and Gorilla models are awesome. I'd avoid fiberglass they tend to bend easy and the fiberglass splinters suck...

Likely the solder joints on the sensor connection to the board are broken. You could try to re solder, or replace the board.

On a gas fired heater you should install a pressure relief, and flow switch when installing a bypass w/ isolation valves.
