    Air binding in sand filter.

How does the air get out of the sand filter? Pushed down through the sand with the water, or does the multi-valve handle this somehow?

    Air binding in sand filter.

I have an above ground pool with a single skimmer which feeds into my pump and then a Sta-Rite sand filter. My problem is that when air gets sucked into the skimmer due to floating toys blocking it, the kids messing with the door flap, or maybe just intense splashing near the skimmer, the air...

    Skimmer types

I just bought a sand filter, but it didn't come with a dedicated pump and skimmer basket. I'm wondering if the skimmer basket installed in the pool's skimmer is sufficient to prevent damage to the pump and fouling of the sand filter, or are the skimmer baskets that usually are installed next to...

    Advice Needed

Hey thanks for the advice everyone! I have very small amount of iron in my water (less than 1ppm). I will try the procedure for getting a more accurate PH reading during shock. I have also put a CuLater pack in the filter to remove the iron.

    Algae in skimmer opening

By the way, I hope my comment didn't sound sarcastic. I think that might be the best way, and if I had an awesome pool like that it might be the most fun as well! Good luck.

    A shocking question!

Hi, a new pool owner here! I read through Pool School and quite a few posts, and may have missed something, but when it comes to shocking I have a question: If I read correctly regarding the OFCT, when the shock is complete the FC shouldn't drop more than about one point overnight. I am...

CYA drop tests are somewhat subjective...

Re: The dot mostly disappears at around 40 Well, there hasn't been full sun here since I put up the pool, but I did try to use bright house lighting. Your point about needing to wait 1 week before testing may be an issue. I added the granular CYA 4 days ago by dissolving it in water and then...

CYA drop tests are somewhat subjective...

Hi, another new pool owner. I ordered the TF100 test kit and tried it out today on CYA. I agree with other posters that it is very difficult to tell when the dot disappears. I put in the recommended amount of CYA to bring my freshly filled pool up to a CYA level of 40. In doing the test the...
