Plumbing leak, 2 of 4 jets turned off.

Yes, this is a commercial pool for a small 10 room resort. We don't get a lot of swimmers, usually a couple of people per day. The run time for the filter is about 14 hours per day. I'll do my testing at the shallow end and see how we go. Thanks for your help!

Plumbing leak, 2 of 4 jets turned off.

Our pool is about 20' by 40', it has two return jets in the shallow end and two in the deep end. We've had the shallow ones turned off for several months now because there is a leak in the pipes somewhere. My boss is concerned that the lack of circulation will cause algae problems, among other...

Thanks, I'll give that a try and see what happens.

    Crystal Crete clogging filter

Thanks. How much is the appropriate amount of DE for the filter? A thin coating? The maintenance guy swears it is the crystal crete clogging the filter.

    Crystal Crete clogging filter

Our pool is quite old, 15 years or so and has never been resurfaced. We have a bad black algae problem and I've been doing lots of scrubbing with a wire brush. The upshot is, a lot of very fine crystal crete is making its way into the filter grids and clogging them. The maintenance man says...

    Crystal Crete Refinish, how often?

Thanks for the response, that's good to know.

    Crystal Crete Refinish, how often?

The owner of the resort wants to know if we need to refinish the surface of the pool. I haven't the faintest idea, so I told her I'd ask here. My question is how do you know when it's necessary? Ours looks okay, and still holds water. Some of the grains of sand in the finish come out here and...

    Drain 46k gallon pool, refilling

I was away from work for two days, but arranged to have two chlorine pucks put in both days. Not sure if anyone put them in the second day. Anyway, tested this morning. PH 7.6 TA 115 FC just under 2ppm Added one chlorine puck and one scoop of cal hypo, about two measuring cups. Hoping I'm...

    Drain 46k gallon pool, refilling

My CYA tested at zero today which does not surprise me as the pool has been recently refilled. Instead of adding CYA right off the bat my plan is to chlorinate using mostly pucks until I get the levels I want. Then I will back off and use more liquid bleach and cal-hypo with the occasional...

    Drain 46k gallon pool, refilling

I tested again this morning. TA is holding at 110 PH has gone down to 7.8 Chlorine has jumped up quite high, about 4ppm Aside from having the pucks in the skimmer basket, am I doing okay for a pool that's just been refilled?

    Drain 46k gallon pool, refilling

No, we run about 16 hours per day.

    Drain 46k gallon pool, refilling

Just tested the water and the TA is now at 110. Hoping it holds. Chlorine still at zero. PH at 8.2 Apparently all of that sodium bi-carb made it jump up. I added four chlorine pucks to the skimmer. Hoping that they'll bring the PH down a bit, chlorinate the water, and get a little CYA in...

    Drain 46k gallon pool, refilling

Pool is now full. I've been adding small amounts of chlorine over the past few days while it fills, both tri-chlor pucks and some cal hypo. Chlorine still tests at zero. PH is 7.2 which as I understand is on the low end, but I plan to add a bit more cal hypo which might bring it up a little...

    Drain 46k gallon pool, refilling

Thanks everyone. I have tested the fill water in the past and the PH and TA have been in the ballpark, so I shouldn't have to do much there. I've placed a couple of chlorine pucks at the bottom as it fills. I'll be able to start circulating the water by the end of tomorrow, I hope. Should I...

    Drain 46k gallon pool, refilling

We have drained and are refilling the pool at the resort I work at. Never done this before. It's going to take about three days to fill. What should I expect when reopening the pool? Thanks for your help!
