    using chlorine tabs in tub

    I can vouch for a salt water tub.... I was ready to throw in the towel and give my tub away. Nice to be able to forget about it and have crystal clear water 24/7....

    Salt Conversion Update

    They do..... The roll in the snow, climb on the edge and jump..... Before leaving on vaca a few weeks ago, it was also the place where we taught them how to snorkel.... The TFP method is priceless.... My wife just shakes her head at the amount of time I spend using the speed stir!

    Salt Conversion Update

    Back in September I installed the chlormaker IL in my hot tub. Prior to this I was using dichlor. The rhetorical problem had always been when we travel we would get home to a disaster or after multiple days of heavy use it would turn into a frog pond. With the help of ChemGeek and a taylor...

    Salt/soft water ok?

    I love it. I was ready to give the tub away when I drained it last spring. I removed the access panel this weekend for the first time to check the cell and that is it. If you give one try and have the capacity, wire it directly to the power terminal block inside the tub. It is already GFI...

    New Swim Spa Heater Electrical Problem

    Isn't the raypak multi voltage capable depending on how the wires are connected in its junction box?

    Salt/soft water ok?

    Have you thought about just converting the tub to a saltwater system? I converted mine this fall and it has been great. The only thing I do to it is add a little muriatic acid every couple weeks. It is also the first time I have been able to leave it for two weeks without returning to a frog...

    Time to heat up spa

    Check the local Craigslist adds. I picked up a slightly used digital raypak 400k for $100 a couple months ago.

    drop in salt water generator in small hot tub

    The controlomatic runs at 1800ppm so it shouldn't hurt any components. Curious to see how the smarterchlor works out. Measuring chlorine levels on the fly is not easy.

    drop in salt water generator in small hot tub

    I installed the controlomatic chlormaker il in my hot tub a couple months ago. After ChemGeek helped with my chemistry (too much cya), all I have done is added a couple ounces of muriatic acid to lower pH. I wish I would have done this years ago!

    New Guy - So glad there is a site for this...

    Radio shack... Ha! I am that geek you see working on PCBs. Do you have a picture of the board or can you find a picture of one online? Is it millivolt or powered? Just a plain rotating pot?

    { HELP! } Spa pump/motor is suddenly Noisy (with video) { HELP! }

    There was a complete pump (black and red parts) on eBay. I am not sure if it is still available. Between there and amazon, you can typically find anything at the best possible price.

    { HELP! } Spa pump/motor is suddenly Noisy (with video) { HELP! }

    The motor is the black cylinder on the right. The red portion is the pump head. There is no real harm in still using it. At some point it will simply give up on life and stop spinning, usually tripping the circuit breaker or blowing the fuse in the process. With that, when they stop spinning...

    { HELP! } Spa pump/motor is suddenly Noisy (with video) { HELP! }

    Even if you dead head a pump (shut a valve to stop flow) it will not sound like that. Closing a suction line will cause cavitaion but I have not seen a spa with a suction line valve. I am guessing the bearings in the motor itself need to be replaced. Given you can buy the complete pump for...
