Wishing everyone a pleasant holiday. Heavy swim weekend for us and the family is napping so it was a perfect opportunity to vacuum, backwash and start balancing for the week

Renovation Underway in Philly Suburbs: Update, done!

Thank you! I have to give any design credit to my wife, it was her vision when I said I wanted paver stones The hardscaping probably took the crew like 6 full working days to complete. Of all the pool renovation takes, this one was singly the most expensive and I guess that’s why.

    Constant high pH

I had to add *so much* calcium to get in range, needed about 50 pounds. I did it over the course of two days.

    Constant high pH

I'm sort of in your situation right now. Pool was re-plastered about 3 weeks ago. Over the first 3 day's I feel like I couldn't add enough acid to keep it down while staying within the limitations of how much you can add in a given time. Now its starting to settle and I'm adding acid...

New Plaster: How fast can I add CYA?

Just following up on this, I think things are going well. CYA: 30 FC: 2 I'm using pool math and yesterday I added bleach to get FC up to 4 PPM so I saw about a 2 PPM loss over a day which seems pretty normal, right? I may choose to raise CYA a bit more but I'm within range now. I'm finding...

    Coping looks terrible

I understand the frustration as someone who’s going through a major renovation right now. I think you are within your rights to raise concerns where you see fit, but I think your coping is pretty good. Before we demoed the pool, we had large concrete slabs that were cracking and the expansion...

    Coping looks terrible

The coping looks ok to me? Is your decking stamped concrete? If so, It looks like maybe they could have done a better job stamping the pattern where the slabs meet

Renovation Underway in Philly Suburbs: Update, done!

I actually have that brush! I'm not sure I'd say it makes it easier, it seems to add a lot of resistance which is good for keeping the brush in contact with the surface. The brush I prefer right now is this "360" design that's really good for getting the corners. And trust me, I've been...

Renovation Underway in Philly Suburbs: Update, done!

Just an update: I am *incredibly* sore from brushing this pool twice a day. I greatly underestimated how difficult that part of start up was going to be. Sorry, just needed to vent that.

New Plaster: How fast can I add CYA?

Alright well that makes it easy, I'll add some chlorine right now!
