    Central Kentucky Refinishing Recommendations

Yes. As I do more research it looks like Pebble Tek is a popular option albeit it more expensive one, than a typical replaster. Looks like there are also fiberglass options. More research to come I guess. Building a regional contractor list from Google and cross referencing with the BBB.

    Central Kentucky Refinishing Recommendations

Thanks. That is the issue at hand, chalking surface and clouding issues. I agree on getting someone lined up now rather than later. What are the best and longest lasting coatings or resurfacing options these days? I’d like something that would allow me to get away from tile at the water line...

    Central Kentucky Refinishing Recommendations

I have a kidney shaped gunnite pool that needs new paint and tile. Located in Central Kentucky and interested in any first hand experience with contractors in the area. Plan is to start the Reno in the early spring 2023. Thanks!!

    Outdoor speakers

I won't touch the audiophile/Bose/quality debate. My pool system is for casual listening while entertaining or getting lost in my personal everyday vacation oasis. Here's what I did. I found a set of 6" Omni's (similar to what the poster above found at the OutdoorSpeaker.com website) that I...

Mesh Safety Cover .vs Solid Safety Cover...experiences?

I'll probably be doing the same when my solid cover wears out - the sunblock material wasn't available when I bought mine or I would imagine I would have one now ;)

    Dolphin Advantage

I have a Dolphin Disgnostic (the one without the remote). I love it - and it's been a great cleaner for me. I've had no problems with it at all (knock on wood) and it does a fantastic job of cleaning the pool. Regardless of whether you choose the Dolphin or another brand, the robot is the...

Will a pool cover help keep the pool clean?

Queen's right on her points - but i've never been terribly impressed with my solar cover's ability to keep debri out of the pool. If the cover is cut to fit the pool perfectly, it's hard to remove but keeps more stuff out. If you cut it slightly smaller, there's debri that gets in the water...

    Solar Sun Rings

NWMNMom is right to some extent - the fish have very limited usefulness, and in my opinion the cost/benefit ratio is way too low, but did provide a benefit for me on my pool. It just wasn't enough benefit for me to continue using them. I didn't mention the issues with pets specifically, but I...

    Indoor pool humidity control systems

We researched the indoor pool concept when we built. It didn't pan out due to the high costs of doing it as an addition. If we ever build a new home, it will include an indoor pool. Some form of humidity control is essential for an indoor pool. What you have to consider is that whenver the...

    Sand in bottom of pool

I have always gotten a little 'sand' in my pool, and by a little I would say that in a week, it wouldn't be any more than a tablespoon or two. This doesn't come from my filter however, it comes from the pool deck. I get more of this 'sand' after rain. It mostly ends up around the edges and...

    Solar Sun Rings

A solar blanket is by far the most effective and lowest cost method to increase you water temperature and keep the heat in. I typically only cover my pool at night, and remove the cover during the day. I get a better heat gain on my pool that way, some say leave it on all the time so YMMV...

Mesh Safety Cover .vs Solid Safety Cover...experiences?

Here's my experience: On my pool I have an HPI (Hinspergers Poly Industries - sold by SPP) sold safety cover. It's the standard safety cover with nylon straps, anchors, springs, etc. etc.. The cover has a mesh panel in the center that allows rain to drain into the pool. My sister-in-law's...

    Skimmer/Main Drain question

My setup is similar, but with only 1 main drain. During normal operation I leave all valves fully opened. This provides a balanced draw of water from the surface and from the bottom. If you just run bottom only, you probably won't have any issues since you have 2 main drains, but I'd...
