Sorry but I don't know what calcium hypochlorite is. Is this product bad? BTW the store where I bought it says it can't be used in my Chlorinator only the skimmer. Been using it all summer to keep CYA level down. It's a stick that goes in solid and than gets thick gooy.

Dom, This is what I use. It says in their literature that it is unstablized. Look for the bucket with the Yellow top. Poolife.com poolife® Active Cleaning® Caplets Chlorinator

Yes that's what thought. I'm thinking it's the giant shrubbery landscaping we have right near the pool and porch.

I did the OCLT test last night and had no drop in chlorine. Yahoo! I guess it is the pollen. Wow. If it weren't for this site I'd be driving myself nuts trying to get algae out of the pool. Oh and the DE trick works wonders. Thanks for the help. Oscar

Thanks Splash. Will do the OCLT test. BTW My wife just told me she just wiped up a bunch of "Yellow Pollen" off the furniture on our screened porch. Hope that's all it is.

Well live and learn. Before I put another cup in the skimmer I checked the gauge again. Still the same 15 PSI. Than I thought about what Mr. Bruce said about the gauge going to 0 with the pump off. So I turned it off. Went to 0. Turned it back on and boom its 17 PSI. Glad I didn't put anymore...

I've put 3 cups of HTH D.E. Filter aid in the swimmer so far and it hasn't moved the gauge needle. Should I continue till it does? Filter and gauge are brand new.
