Intex Salt Water Generator (SWG) for in ground pool (IGP) Model ECO 8110 28669EG

Good to know about borates. Looking forward to seeing the new acid consumption pattern. I fully understand the pump running costs. I know mine so no problem here. Having multiple units helps with electricity costs.

How much muriatic acid will I need each week with a SWCG? Let's do real maths here.

They're decoupled spatially, that's correct, but sooner or later, OH- ions end up in the pool. They won't stay in the cell because of water flow and diffusion. The reaction I used is straight from Wikipedia so I didn't "invent" it. myself. Salt water chlorination - Wikipedia I have no idea what...

How much muriatic acid will I need each week with a SWCG? Let's do real maths here.

Water Balance for SWG pools guide here doesn't really say how much muriatic acid will be needed weekly or monthly. PoolMath calculator doesn't yet have anything related to FC generation in SWCGs, or muriatic acid usage to fix the pH when SWCGs are running. Here's my attempt to bring some maths...

Intex Salt Water Generator (SWG) for in ground pool (IGP) Model ECO 8110 28669EG

Thanks for the answers. $4/mo in electricity, not so bad at all. But - someone on Reddit just told me using muriatic acid in SWCG pools is a must. I dug into it and looks like he's right. How much muriatic acid (or pH downs) do you add a week or a month?

Will my pool and pump be compatible with Intex Krystal Clear SWCG? (or any SWCG)

Thanks for your reply, Jeff. > 6000 gal pool > CYA 70 > FC 9-10 > 8 hours run That means a 20,000 gallon pool would get 3 FC in the same conditions. And probably a little less FC in South Texas due to more sun. Still looking good though. I'm almost convinced to go ahead with Intex for the...

Intex Salt Water Generator (SWG) for in ground pool (IGP) Model ECO 8110 28669EG

Hey Paulnx, your rig looks really nice & affordable. I'm thinking of doing the same in my 20,000 gallon pool. Do you mind answering these questions? 1. How many hours a day do you run the two generators? 2. What's your constant FC level? 3. What's your CYA level? 4. What's the power usage (kW)...

Will my pool and pump be compatible with Intex Krystal Clear SWCG? (or any SWCG)

Hey Paulnx, this is very helpful. Many thanks. I'll ask a couple questions about your setup directly in your thread as it makes more sense.

Will my pool and pump be compatible with Intex Krystal Clear SWCG? (or any SWCG)

Jeff, that's what I thought of. I'm seeing "Intex Krystalclear SWG EC8110" in your signature - is the 7,000 or 15,000 gallon rated? Would you share more info? 1. How many hours a day do you run the generator? 2. What's your constant FC level? 3. What's your CYA level? Thanks.

Will my pool and pump be compatible with Intex Krystal Clear SWCG? (or any SWCG)

I must have confused the overnight FC loss test (OCLT) with total loss. Thanks for pointing it out. Since it's actually 2-4 PPM, then yeah, it looks worse now. 14 hours a day to keep up with 2 PPM loss. 21 hours for 3 PPM. 24 hours for 3.45 PPM.

Will my pool and pump be compatible with Intex Krystal Clear SWCG? (or any SWCG)

Howdy domct203 - thanks for your reply. Re #1 & #2 - perfect. Re #3 - I'm not as much concerned about the volume rating as I am by actual chlorine generation ratings. According to the manufacturer this very SWCG generates up to 12 grams of chlorine per hour. Overnight run (8 hours) will...

Will my pool and pump be compatible with Intex Krystal Clear SWCG? (or any SWCG)

Howdy! I've recently bought a home with a 22,000 gallon swimming pool. I learned how to maintain it from this forum. I also learned how much time and money it costs to maintain it and, when things go bad because of my negligence or travel, SLAM it. I'm considering adding an SWCG to my pool to...
