Advice on replacing liner for semi-above ground pool

Well, the new liner is in and the pool is refilled and heating and filtering! I had anticipated replacing the liner being a big job, but it was worse than I'd expected. Even just emptying the small amount of water left in the bottom of the pool after siphoning most of it out took ages. Getting...

Advice on replacing liner for semi-above ground pool

Thanks very much for the responses, they're really useful. Mdragger88, as far as I know the liner hasn't ever been replaced, so yes, maybe more than 18 years! I've been patching it for the last few years - initially it was just small tears but last year a couple of long splits developed. With...

Advice on replacing liner for semi-above ground pool

Hi, I hope everyone is keeping well in these strange days. I'm after some advice on replacing the old liner on my above ground pool: The pool was put in by the previous owners, and is an 18' by 12' above ground oval. I've been patching the liner for several years and it's finally reached the...

Can I leave pucks in my in-line chlorinator when it's off?

One quick observation about fishing unused pucks out of a chlorinator is to beware of any residual gas which may be released when you open the lid of the chlorinator. Sorry if this is really obvious advice that everyone already knows, but I had a very unpleasant blast of chlorine when opening...

    Hi from NotSmartEnough

Rain run off isn't a big problem. There are a couple of springs in the garden where we get standing water, but apart from that it's rare that there's any surface water. If there's extreme rainfall then it tends to run past the pool under the decking and drain away at the front of the house.

    Hi from NotSmartEnough

I've found a couple of photos from 2013. I've reduced the jpg quality to reduce their size; hope they aren't too big to attach: The long shot gives some impression of the slope of the site; it gets steeper the further you get from the house!

    Hi from NotSmartEnough

Thanks! Everywhere looks very drab at this time of year; I'll dig out some pics of the pool in sunnier times! I can't take credit for any of the construction or design; that was all done by the previous owners. They dug into the slope so that the top end of the pool is effectively in-ground...

    Hi from NotSmartEnough

Hi, and a Happy New Year from a new TFP forum member! I've been a pool owner for about 9 years now. When we moved to our current house the pool was a mess and took a lot of hard work to get back to a good state. It's a vinyl-lined above-ground pool, but the garden is on a fairly steep slope, so...
