Flo valve not working correctly? (video)

Great news. I'm having a SWG installed tomorrow and the tech came out to evaluate my system pre-install today. I asked him if he had a spring check valve to replace mine and he did. It seems to have solved the problem. As for winterizing, I live in Florida, so no worries! :D Thanks everyone!

Flo valve not working correctly? (video)

Yes, the valve is on the main circulation circuit. The solar system is comprised of four panels, all 4' x 8' (I think). It is turned on/off manually via the black valve in the picture. I pretty much leave it on all of the time. Yes, the solar return is unrestricted.

If you're asking if the valve is open, then yes, it is completely open.

Flo valve not working correctly? (video)

I talked to Flo Control today and they think the valve is working correctly. They suggested a vacuum may be being created on the solar panel side when it's trying to drain. The funny thing is I just replaced the valve on the solar panel last week because the old one was leaking a tiny bit...

Flo valve not working correctly? (video)

The valve can be mounted either vertically or horizontally. It is installed in the correct orientation as well. It is mounted after the pump/filter/heat pump but before the solar heater and chlorinator, which I would assume is the correct placement for it. I purchased this house in July, and...

    Thanks. I'll look into that.

Flo valve not working correctly? (video)

My system is setup with a solar heater (on the roof, of course) ran after the heat pump. So everyday at 6pm when the system shuts down, the water remaining in the solar tubes drains back down into the heat pump. I was under the impression that this valve, which is between the heat pump and...

New here (and to pools) and having nitrate problems

So I ordered the individual FAS/DPD test today, but I have company coming over today and tomorrow. Is there any way to tell if my pool is safe? Current numbers: CYA 55 FC >5 TA 70 (I have added 10 lbs of baking soda to fix this.) (*Edit:now 100) pH 6.8 (See above) (*Edit: now 7.2) CH 300

New here (and to pools) and having nitrate problems

Ok. So I've drained 1/3 of my pool and refilled it. My FC is still maxing out my cheapo test's reading (1-5 scale), as it has been. I had a hard time reading the CYA test due to reflection off the water (as did the pool supply employee), but I thought I got 65ish and he guessed somewhere...

New here (and to pools) and having nitrate problems

Draining is taking forever so I'm buying a sump pump. Is filling half of my 23,000 gallon pool going to take days?

New here (and to pools) and having nitrate problems

Ok. The pool is currently draining. I'm assuming it's going to take all day to get 50% out of it since it's just draining through a garden house via the filter, but I'll retest after refilling and report back. Dom, I currently have a Leslie's (Taylor) Total Poolcare DPD Test Kit (their most...

New here (and to pools) and having nitrate problems

Thanks guys! I'll start draining today. (BTW, any idea approximately what percentage I should drain/refill?) I read the ABC's and about the test kits. I'll see what my current kit has and doesn't have and order accordingly (I just paid $60 for my current kit). Regarding the type and amount...

New here (and to pools) and having nitrate problems

Hi everyone! From my brief introduction to pools, I'm going to assume I'll be spending a lot of time on this forum. So thanks for the space and the help, and nice to meet all of you! Long story short, the people that were (now fired) maintaining my pool and the pool supply employees are as...
