    Southeast PA build

Re: South East PA build I would just get it all done now. Our build and plaster wasn't finished until mid September, then we had some other mishaps that required keeping it open into October. If that all would have happened in late spring, it could have gone into summer when we would want to...

    Cartridge vs DE

I couldn't decide, so I got a Pentair Quad DE, which is both... It's a cartridge filter that uses DE. http://www.pentairpool.com/pool-pro/pro ... rs-139.htm

    Septic Question

Call a septic service and have them do a "hydro jet" service, which blows water at high pressure through your drain field pipes and removes blockages.

    Gas heater vs. Heat pump

Don't discount the convenience factor. That's fine if you know 22+ hours ahead of time (could be more depending on temp or pool size) that you are going to want to use the pool and/or know you need to heat it. For example, I'd hate to fire up the heat pump a day+ before a weekend so the kids...

    Cease and Desist order

I'm not a lawyer either but one question - do you specifically mention any of their products by name, or just the chemical name? I fail to see how you could "libel" a chemical!?! A chemical has no rights under the US Constitution. Your free speech does! Cripes, if someone could sue for...

Do you cover your pool equipment?

This will be my first winter with an in-ground pool. Do any of you cover your equipment (filter, pump, etc.)?

    Electrical Question

Don't they automatically install one at the pool equipment? We are almost at the end of our construction, and they put an outlet at the pool equipment site without even asking. We also had them put TWO outlets at the opposite end of the pool deck, at each end of the curve of the patio area...

    New gunite & water

OK, thanks - and yes, we are hosing it down at least 2 or 3 times a day. It's been pretty cool and cloudy.

Really! I would have taken my good old time building that pool...

    New gunite & water

It's gunite (I assume - that's what the PB says it is and that's what the trucks said on the side). The hole was wet when they started. They started pumping the water out the night before and there was a little left in the morning when they started. They pumped that out and then did the...

    New gunite & water

We have a new pool under construction. Last week it was excavated and rebar laid. Then over the weekend we had a LOT of rain. At one point, I would guess there was close to 2 feet of water in the deep end of the hole. They pumped out the water and sprayed the gunite this week. So the gunite...

    DE filter with well water

This is related to a question I asked in another section. For my new pool, should I favor a cartridge filter over a DE filter if I have well water? I do not have a water softener - I am questioning the effect that iron and other minerals could have when I have to add water after backwashing...

BBB in a brand new pool

Well... I don't have anything yet. It's not finished... But it will be 20x40 gunite (I am guessing 25-30K gallons), DE filter, Intelliflo VS pump. It will have full sun.

BBB in a brand new pool

I've been reading about pool chemistry and BBB on this site, and have learned quite a bit. What do you think of doing this? In a brand new just filled pool, using Trichlor (in a chlorinator) until CYA level reaches N (not sure what "N" should be - what should it be?). Then switch to BBB. The...
