No restrictions that I know of just 2 90 degree bends. You can adjust the water flow into the valve by rotating the lid however not setting changes the spin.

The gears are the same however the part on the bottom of the gearset that opens the flap is different. I have swapped the gearset and the problem still occurs. (Makes me think it's not the gears)

The 2 zone valve is for the spa, this runs 6 heads The 6 zone runs the pool which I think has 18 heads. I'm in Australia so the Cookes brand is local but I am 95% sure it's A&A rebranded.
