No I don't use the test strips...my wife uses them while I'm at work ("because she doesn't want to mess with chemicals") and told me the results. I did a test the next day and my TA is still high but everything else seems to be ok.

Hey all. This has been a weird summer in SW Michigan as we have seen a massive amount of heat. So with that, I have been keeping the pool (sitting around 90-92 degrees) open 24 hrs a day. Pool is 18x36 vinyl pool (I always use 30k gallons as basis) and we usually cover when not in use with...

My wife mis-read the test...sorry just had an opportunity to get it back on. We are maintaining chlorine in the 3-5 range just never was able to keep it up in the Shock area very long. I'll continue to keep an eye on it as I go...Thanks again for all your help.

Quick Question: If your CYA jumps all the sudden other than backflushing the water and adding new is there anything else I should do? It jumped from the 30-50 this morning up to around 70. thanks again for all feedback

woo-hoo...opened pool this morning and the FC was in the 3-5 range...this is the first morning that it has had any FC stay in overnight. I'm not sure if we ever got the FC over 10 but we seem to be gaining some ground. We still are losing FC over time but it is a least gaining ground compared...

Would also definately say that Napoleon's are very Nice. Bought the built-in model for the U-shaped Bar area that I built a couple years ago and added a side burner...don't have a complaint on it!!

Jason Just so I'm clear with our pool in the 30-50 range for CYA...we need to get a reading of ~ 15 in our pool to be in shock level correct? I've hit it with 7 gallons and it is still reading 10. So based on re-reading pool school and your notes...get it up to 15ish and try to maintain it...

Jason Thanks for the reply. I added another 6 today and and almost seeing some FC come into play. Per my previous post I'm adding liquid chlorine...what is your feeling on the 3" pucks that you can throw into the filter bucket? I've heard that they can aide in the calcification of your sand?
