    Jackson, Mississippi pool closing

TFP has been a great resource for us when we moved into our rented house in April. I move a lot for work and we are probably going to remain in Mississippi for another year. I'm unsure about what to do for the winter with the pool? The landlord had one of those mesh covers, but when we moved...

    what happens when plaster errodes

What's quite bad??? It looks awful to me. I've attached a photo of the top stair that doesn't have water on it right now, and the tip of the deep end. I'm trying to figure out what to tell our landlord. We chose this house because of the pool and it has been so much trouble that I'm...

    what happens when plaster errodes

We are renting a house with a pool that has been nothing but trouble. Since the homeowner had it opened in May, we have not seen the bottom of the deep end. Right now I am in an argument with my husband about the plaster. When plaster erodes, will that cause cloudiness in the water? I'm...

FINALLY got my test kit - first time numbers -now what?

I'm so excited to have my kit!!! I just completed my first test and want to know your thoughts. FC 3 CC 0.6 Ph 8 TA 160 Ch 60 CYA 20 The pool store had my CYA so high! I guess they are notoriously wrong with testing. My water is cloudy, not clear but isn't green anymore. I can barely see...

Kit on the way! Help with current # from strip & green pool

Re: Kit on the way! Help with current # from strip & green p Well, the pool store gave me that number...so I'm hoping they are incorrect. I already did a partial drain, about 2/3rds and have only added Clorox since then. I had the pool store run the numbers again out of curiosity. I...

Kit on the way! Help with current # from strip & green pool

Re: Kit on the way! Help with current # from strip & green p Is there something with my water in particular that could be causing the high cya level? I am not a fan of our water - lol. When I hand wash dishes the soap doesn't get sudsy. :-)

Kit on the way! Help with current # from strip & green pool

Re: Kit on the way! Help with current # from strip & green p I should have my kit by tomorrow but I was antsy so just received the following from the pool store. Keep in mind that last week I drained a lot out of the pool to drop the CYA #'s. The good news is that its no longer green...

Kit on the way! Help with current # from strip & green pool

I know that the strips aren't the best and I'll have my test kit early next week...but currently have a green pool. Back story - the pool store #'s were as follows. TC 2.5 FC2.5 ph 7.9 TA 110 CH 250 Stabilizer (CYA) 185! I drained the pool and its almost full. I have put 5 182oz...

    liquid bleach

Yeah - I was thinking about it earlier and I guesstimated that with my current CYA levels I would be looking at $300+ in bleach to shock my pool to get rid of the algae. And then I'd still have a high CYA level to deal with. :grrrr: I'm just frustrated that no one at the pool store ever...

    liquid bleach

I'm would like to avoid a complete drain. But if that's the only way, then its the only way. We found out that at the house we are renting, water is almost $5.00 per 100 cubic foot of water. :(
