    Cartridge or DE?

I'm a big fan of DE filters, my brother in law has a cartridge filter and I have a de and my pool just seems to be clearer (we both follow TFP method and chemistry in check). Techicnally speaking DE is able to capture the smallest size particulars possible out of all types of filters...

Hello and thanks from a longtime lurker

I'm right there with you, my dad handed over the pool maintenance to me at 16 years old and been doing it since then including my own pool as well as neighbors and friends pool. People are still amazed when all I tell them all they need to use chemical wise is BBB and (MA).

Unusual amount of foam in the pool

There is no need for algaecide if pool chemistry is correct (i.e. FC is in range for CYA level). Speaking from personal experience, haven't used a drop of it In any of the pools I've maintained for the past 20 years and never had algae issues.

What to use to hold steps down inside pool?

Thanks! My kids are still small (6 and 2) so no rowdy kids (yet haha). Our deck has holes already from the old ladder we had so will likely mount it to the deck and cover those holes.

What to use to hold steps down inside pool?

Hi all! Sorry to resurect this 2 year old thread... i just purchased the confer steps (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002AQUFG6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and thinking weights for it. It looks like the rebar + pvc pipe + 3 jugs filled with concrete would work. Thoughts...

Personally I would not glue them, reasons are the same as yippeeskippy posted.

Sorry and thanks for correcting me, swg aerate water which drives ph up.

First test kit arrives tomorrow - what chemicals do I need to have on hand?

Hahaha! Last time I went there they Insisted I bring a water sample in. When I asked how they gave me a free bottle to bring my water in for testing... I now use that to collect my pool water and test using my Taylor 2006c kit :-). Guess the pool store was good for something haha

    TA is 560!!!!!!!!

To lower TA you have to lower ph to 7.0-7.2 with MA and aerate to bring ph up. Rinse and repeat. My TA started at 200 out of my tap (fresh fill). Took a good 2 weeks to get it down to 90 after bringing it up to 7.8 then back down to 7.2. Had to do that over and over until ta was back in range.

    First Test results

Depends, each pool is different. Me personally I have to add acid once every other week. Just test ph with your test kit first to see if you even need to add acid. Use pool calculator to determine how much acid to add. Make sure you type in how many gallons your pool is then enter your...

    First Test results

I'm going to assume they mean add acid to lower your ph. You can test your ph with your test kit. You want to be in the 7.2 to 7.8 range. Since swg does not impact ph (unlike using chlorine tabs which are acidic and lower ph) your ph will drift up over time. Acid will bring the ph back down...
