    Raypak Pool Heater LCD Problem

I had the same issue with my RayPak Pool Heater. The Installation & Operating Instructions manual indicates that the LCD Display for the 336A is 013640F (for units from 5/2011). No part number listed for pre 5/2011. The same part number is indicated for your 336A as my 266A. I purchased one...

Want to Test Total Hardness in home water supply

Thanks all. I'm good at this point. Talked to my water softener installer (who I trust and has been servicing my area for decades) and he confirmed that there is virtually no magnesium in our water supply. Thus by measuring Calcium Hardness I'm effectively also measuring Total Hardness. Mike

Want to Test Total Hardness in home water supply

Thanks anonapersona. I spoke to our local water utility office and they were no help. They said they don't measure hardness and don't need to report it. If I want to know what the Total Hardness is they said I should buy a test kit and measure it. Mike

Want to Test Total Hardness in home water supply

For the sake of calibrating my water softener I am trying to test the Total Hardness of the water coming to my home. I have read that the standard Calcium Hardness test uses of R-0010 (Sodium Hydroxide) as a base/buffer is to avoid interference with Magnesium. As I understand it at high pH the...

Should I put cover over pool motor?

Thanks Jason Lion. Installed a motor cover yesterday. After our sprinklers ran I observed that the cover was all wet, but the motor was nice and dry under its cover. Guess I've been watering my motor twice a week - an obvious contributor to the rust and the motor's premature failure.

Should I put cover over pool motor?

Live near Tampa Florida. Motor on a Pentair Whisperflo 1.5 HP pool pump went out after 4 1/2 years. The motor itself was very rusty. It is situated directly under the overhang of the roof so rainwater lands on the motor. Pool service company that replaced motor recommended that I install...

    Polaris 380 question

To be on the safe side I'd suggest monitoring it when you first try it. The main thing the booster pump needs is enough flow for the booster pump to run. When you first try it you can observe whether the booster pump makes any unusual noises indicative of not having enough flow. You can also...

    PUMP RUN TIME

I run mine 3 hours a day year-round. I'm a cheapskate and don't want to buy more electricity than necessary. The pool is in a pool cage so little debris gets in the pool. Chlorine maintained with SWG. Water is always crystal clear and tests within all the proper ranges. Mike

    Cartridge Filter

Waterbear: Thanks for the info. I hadn't noticed any decrease in run time yet - perhaps that will occur as more time passes. So far the filter is only 2 1/2 years old and I've been using DE for 9 months. I normally clean the filter every 2 months, even though the pressure never shows an...

    Date Stamps on Posts

Thanks. After making the adjustment and I can better understand when things were posted. It seems strange that the default would have been such a confusing format. Mike

    Date Stamps on Posts

I find the date stamps on posts to be confusing. Typically I see something like: Posted: Jun Tue 2008, 09:27. It seems that instead of showing Tue it should be showing a date. Mike

    Cartridge Filter

Rangeball: I would guess it's probably not as effective as a regular DE filter. The .5 pound per 100 square feet provides only a real thin coat of DE on the Cartridge Filter. In my case the water is crystal clear. My pool is inside a pool cage so there is very little debris entering the...

    Cartridge Filter

I use a small quantity of DE (diatomaceous earth) with my cartridge filter. This is specifically mentioned in my Pentair Clean and Clear Cartridge manual: "Note: When the cartridge element filter is used on new pools and after cleaning the elements, introduce into the system .5 pound of...

    Goldline AquaRite Cell Life

Just curious of what the expected cell life would be for a Goldline AquaRite. I believe I've seen reference to the cell being rated for so many hours and that would be the hours it was actually generating. As I understand it, if I run the unit for 8 hours at a 50% setting, the unit was...
