Using Pillows Does NOT work here!

I've used the pool pillows multiple times and they are almost always flat when opening the pool. The last couple years I have used whatever I have around. A couple cheap pool donuts and 2 Intex River Runner blow-ups, all tied together. They all fared well and are still in use but I figure if...

    Need advice, Newbie

It's been awhile but I think I had a corner on my oval pool that did that. As it filled I gently kicked that area until it fit better and the liner stretched in some areas. It looks like the J-bead fit ok which is good. Others will be along to confirm or deny what I just said. :-)

    Yup, flipped...oops.

aeration from water source other than pool?

Well, if you are using tap water the PH could be off enough to not have any gain in aerating. When using the pool water you are dropping the PH of it by aerating the same water continuously, not new water. Can you T your return with a shutoff so you can easily control the fountain instead...

Wedding cake stairs are an algae trap.

Not much water flow on those. Mine are more like the pics in the link below. As mentioned, add more holes and/or devise a way to add bleach directly into the holes on the side that has water flowing in. http://www.familypoolfun.com/images/steps/ne113_easypoolstep.jpg

New house, new pool, existing equipment

So it's leaking by the rubber seals? The inside threads on this type look to be where you add a fitting the hose attaches to. Maybe you need another seal, it's possible you ran out of usable threads.

Intex saltwater water system salt ppm woes and general Rust prevention questions?

If your walls are slimy it's time to SLAM. Check it out in poolschool. Can you do the FAS-DPD Test listed above?

Does the return have a a piece that is on each side that threads into the other side? If so you also need to seal the threads or it will leak from there which may make it look like is leaking from the other seal. It depends on the type of return you have.

Pool maintenance while out of town

If you can it will help keep bleach and water from burning off. If your CYA level is normal then you could throw some pucks in a floater and let it do it's thing.

    Cheap heater

No issues with mine but it does seam to flow better when I lift that edge of the cover up and put it on the top rail of the pool. I then sit a jug of water on it so it stays put. Ghetto but works.

    Cheap heater

My cover is similar to the pic above. You can see the pole that goes from one side to the other side with straps hanging down. Those straps attach to the cover so you can roll it up with that poll. My reel is a couple feet away from where the corner starts on my pool so once rolled, one side...

    Pool Purchase Help

My 2 cents is oval is more fun for games. We sometimes play volleyball and badminton in ours with space to spare....usually. Lots of buying options including used on Craigslist. That's where mine came from. The new pools I've seen are no where near as sturdy as my old pool.

    Cheap heater

Solar cover is a must for up here. Mine only comes off when we swim or the pool needs some cleaning. The keep the heat in at night and lower evaporation. Don't bother with the expensive ones, the cheap ones last just as long and are way easier to deal with. You will also chlorinate less...

Help with finally getting some consistency

I may be off but I think I read somewhere that someone used plastic sheeting to separate the old water from the new. After laying the plastic on top of the water, they siphoned water from under the plastic and added on top of the plastic. When the plastic got down to the desired depth you...
