    Ready to SLAM; CYA question

I put in enough bleach to bring it up to 10ppm and waited 15 minutes to test. Test results are: FC-10 and CC is somewhere between 0 and 0.5. (because the water didn’t really turn pink after adding the 5 drops of R-0003).

    Ready to SLAM; CYA question

At pool closing last October, CYA was around 60. The water is green. I’ll add bleach to reach 10ppm FC this afternoon and post results. Thanks!

    Ready to SLAM; CYA question

Taylor K-2006 test kit results: FC: 0.4 CC: 0.2 pH: 7.2 TA: 40 Salt: 3800 CYA: close to zero (water never got cloudy) I know I need to raise my CYA before the SLAM but to what level? Can I start SLAM with 30ppm CYA so I need less bottles of bleach and then raise CYA level to 70 after...

Cloudy water but water test sorta okay

No cover over the winter so we had a slimy mess to clean up. Slammed pool and then used Taylor kit to test. Running SWG on 100%; running auto vacuum constantly (can't see bottom to use pump vacuum). All the green and sediment is gone but water is still white cloudy. The only thing I have not...

How to keep blue water when winterized?

My pool guy came and winterized the pool by blowing the water out of all the pipes (including an outdoor bathroom) and then turned off the pump. We do not have a pool cover because we have no trees and don't want to spend the money on one right now. My question is this: Is there anything I can...

    Unnecessary SLAM?

The FC dropped from 15.5 ppm this morning at 5:00am to 7.5 ppm at 2:00 in the afternoon. Again, I have turned off the SWG but such a drastic drop in FC ppm seems to indicate something is eating up the chlorine too fast. Even though it is a very hot day today and the pool gets full sun all day...

    Unnecessary SLAM?

FC check at 2:00pm today shows 7.5 ppm. I think I'll take your advice AftonJeeper and add some bleach this afternoon/evening to get FC back up to 10 (maybe even 12) and then do another OCLT in the morning. The water does not smell fishy; it smells like bleach.

    Unnecessary SLAM?

I just checked the chlorine again (at 10:20am); FC is 12.5 ppm and CC is 0.5. I'm very confused. It's up 1 ppm--though I have NOT added any bleach today and SWG is still off. So, the question remains...continue the SLAM?

    Unnecessary SLAM?

Hi everyone! Another pool newbie here looking for advice. I have been doing a SLAM since yesterday and at the 24-hour mark (at 5:00am), my pool met all 3 criteria to stop the SLAM. Something doesn't seem right to me because, according to what everyone says, a SLAM takes longer than 24 hours. Did...

    Just Getting Started...Am I ever!

Thank you AimeeH and kimkats! I have started reading Pool School but it takes a while to get through it and to remember everything, especially when LIFE continually interrupts! The pool math calculator is awesome. I now know how much CYA/stabilizer to add, etc. but I'm starting very...
