Spa has white deposits, FLO error, and is overheating

Unreal. Replace the term "expert" with "jocky". Adding 2 pounds of alkalinity increaser would put your TA around 350 or so. Get yourself a taylor test kit pronto, and the fine folks on this forum will help you out. No need to buy a new tub, especially a Sundance tub.

Away from Spa for 10 Weeks - How to Sanitize?

I don't think it can be done for 10 weeks. I think of a spa like a pet. It needs darn near daily attention. Leave the cat in the house for 10 weeks and hope for the best? Nah. My thoughts are, if you can go on vacation for 10 weeks, you can afford to pay someone the time to look after your...

    Yeti coolers

I was going to pull the trigger on a yeti a few years back. I am thinking it was around $400 for a 48 quart model. Common sense kicked in and I didn't buy the over priced roto-molded piece of plastic to keep a beverage cold.

How much chlorine/oxidizer to use after soak?

bridgman, so you are saying that your hunting buddies are eating up too much chlorine? Aren't they bathing in no scent soap, shampoo, and using scent blocker clothing to shoot da thirdy pointer? LOL. Your tub picture looks great!

    Speedstir Necessary?

OK, I get it. Not needed. I sure am glad I didn't spend the $30 on that useless little gizmo.:stirpot:

    Water softener question.

We built our new house 7 years ago. I'm wondering if there is something I should be doing with my water softener to clean it, or revive it, or whatever. I went way too long on my last in-line filter change. When I changed the filter recently, the old one was in a pile at the bottom of the...

    Speedstir Necessary?

I've been using the Taylor K2106 test kit. After a month of testing, you can just look at the sample and have a good idea of how much bromine is in the water. I will add 6 or 7 drops of the reagent without stirring, and then just swirl by hand to "read" the sample. So my question is, do I or...

    Salt and spa

Just for the heck of it, I called Jacuzzi and asked them about using salt in my J375. The guy told me that if my spa was still under warranty, that it would no longer be covered if I added salt to the spa. He said that back in 2000 or 2001 Sundance, another Jacuzzi brand, came out with a salt...

    Bromine Reserve

Assuming a rate of 1/2 ounce per 100 gallons of water, I come up with 55 lbs of sodium bromide. You wouldn't use tabs for this, as they have chlorine and bromine in them to mix with the sodium bromide to create hypobromous acid. I think I got that right!

    Salt and spa

Hmmmmm. I don't know about this response. I would talk to the dealer or the manufacturer and ask them if your warranty will still be good if you add salt to your spa.

OK, I'm going to add Borates but have a couple of questions

Why don't you just add boric acid to the pool instead of the mule+muriatic? Just buy one chemical, add as needed, and done. Pool math will tell you how much.

How to get CH down.. without draining

Also, when I filled my hot tub with the well water, I had a pH of 7.2, and a TA of 400. This didn't add up in my mind, as a high TA should = a high pH. Well, I aerated for 20 minutes and the pH sky rocketed. My Taylor test kit said it was 8.2+. I ended up added about 24 ounces of muriatic...

How to get CH down.. without draining

Yes, I live in the country, so I'm on a well. My CH from the well was 280, and the "processed" water from my water softener was at 10. I combined the two to get a pH of 150 in my hot tub. What part of the state are you from? I see green grass in your photo so you must be from the south!

How to get CH down.. without draining

My filters from my hot tub looked the same as yours. I rinsed mine off 3 times in the first week of a new fill. I just used the hose with my thumb over the end to create a spray. - - - Updated - - - Your water is looking 100 times better. I see you are from WI. You probably won't be...

How to get CH down.. without draining

I guess I don't agree with this. Acid reduces TA, not aeration. Aeration increases pH, so you can add more acid to lower your TA to your target.
