Is anybody familiar with this from LoopLoc? It seems that if I get the solid cover, they force me to buy their pump for an extra 200 bucks (twice what it cost me for the LG pump.) This is from my quote:

Is the reason to use a solid cover without drain panels because the water that gets through the cover into the pool has no way to evaporate?

Seems to be a pretty good deal because of what it usually sells for :) And my past experience with LG pumps (non-pool purposes) has been excellent.

The pump doesn't have a problem with the amount of leaves seen in your current photo? Re: cover patches - ours is 25 years old, but after seeing yours I'm thinking that maybe patching could be an okay solution to get a few more miles.

That will be too risky. I want the least burdensome solution. The one that will be closest to autopilot. When I visit, there are always other things for me to attend to, so I have to keep the pool needs to a minimum. I was thinking to do the pump in conjunction with the cover with drain panels...

Instead of having to have a pump setup on the cover, isn't it easier maintenance to get the solid cover with the drain panels and then just drain the excess water from the pool once each year before winter?

Will that cause stuff to get murky and grow around the pump?

So get the standard solid cover with the drain panels?

If the pump leaves an inch of water on the cover, what prevents that from being an issue? Getting mucky and growing stuff like what happened with our cover? An inch evaporates quickly enough?

You haven't seen the pics of my mom's pool cover. Tree debris would likely be an issue.

The pool company through a curveball at me today, so I have an additional question about the cover ... They said if I was going to use a pump that LoopLoc has a solid cover with a pump (for $170 more.) They said there is no drain panel in the cover and it comes with an automatic pump. I do not...
