Finally, there. Lost only 1 ppm FC overnight. Thanks to everyone for your help, encouragement, and support. FC: 20 CC: 0.5

    Can't clear up the cloudiness

Fourth day of shocking and things continue to improve. Lost 2 ppm of FC last night, but we did have rain so that may have diluted the pool somewhat. Added bleach to bring it back to shock level just now. Here are this morning's readings: FC: 18.5 CC: 0 Also, adding the DE to the sand...

    Can't clear up the cloudiness

Pool looks better today. It's clearly moving in the right direction. (Despite those pesky fallen leaves) This morning's readings: FC: 18 CC: 0

    Can't clear up the cloudiness

Ran the overnight chlorine test and lost about 3 ppm. I'll keep shocking as directed in the forum (until a loss of less than 1 ppm). This morning's readings were: FC: 19 CC: 0

    Can't clear up the cloudiness

Sort of. I brought the FC up to 15 which was a number I remembered from converting from BAQ. But when I looked at the chlorine/cya chart this morning, it says I should aim for a FC of 20 when shocking. I think it's probably a good idea to go through the shock process again following the...

    Can't clear up the cloudiness

One other question. Should I shock the pool or wait to see the effects of the DE?

    Can't clear up the cloudiness

Thanks, Stuart. I'll stick with the results of my own testing this morning, which were: Current readings are: FC: 6.5 CC: 0 Ph: 7.8 TA: 110 CH: 80 CYA: 50

    Can't clear up the cloudiness

Thanks, Guys. I picked up the DE from a local pool store and brought in a water sample too. Their numbers differed from mine on a few areas. Most notably they listed the CYA at 13, while my test this morning had it at 50. How much faith do you put in the computerized testing done by pool shops?

    Can't clear up the cloudiness

][/img] Hey Everyone, Have used the BBB method for two summers since switching over from Baq. Things have gone great until recently. Cannot get rid of this cloudiness. Current readings are: FC: 6.5 CC: 0 Ph: 7.8 TA: 110 CH: 80 CYA: 50 Was shocking contiunally for a week with no improvement...

    Combined Chloramines

Hey everyone, my pool looks great -- making the switch from Baq to Chlorine was a great move. I've been using bleach for my chlorine and haven't had any troubles. Once a week I test all aspects of the pool with the Trouble Free TF-100 kit. The last two weeks the CC's have been zero. Should I...

Switch now or wait till next year?

With the end of the swimming season approaching, I was wondering if we need to clean the cover before installing it this year? Is there enough baquacil residue to cause any difficulties when we open the pool next spring?

Switch now or wait till next year?

Okay, so I backwashed the filter and there was a lot of baqua-goo in there. Back washed it again this morning and it looked clear for the entire three minutes I backwashed. Lost about five ppm of chlorine over night; I'm skeptical that I'll ever get to the point where I lose only 1 ppm...

Switch now or wait till next year?

Yes, that's right. An additional 34 drops. I haven't backwashed because the pressure hasn't budged since I changed the sand last Saturday. It certainly couldn't hurt, so I'll give that a try. :-D

Switch now or wait till next year?

This is Day 13, the pool has never looked better

Switch now or wait till next year?

Another Question: I've been surprised by the amount of overnight chlorine loss the last few days; this morning it was 10 ppm. I'm beginning to think I may not actually ever be reaching 15 ppm. I suppose this is possible if I'm estimating the capacity of the pool incorrectly. After...
