Closed late and opened with water temp around 55 F. Mesh cover for winter. Pic after netting leaves and 2x robot runs. One of the nicer openings over past 25 years with this mechanical timered pool.

    Backfilling PVC trenches

I read similar when researching last year. I put down filter fabric first, then 3” sand bed, ran a string line to maintain 1% slope, installed/glued pipe, covered pipe w/ 3” sand, filter fabric to keep gravel out or sand, 18” of clean crush and run, filter fabric, then top soil.

    Cover pump

Image above looks like a Wane pool cover pump - Amazon.com The Wayne pumps seem to work very well and seems to last six years or so. Monsoon rain will turn it into a truly submersible pump, but around here the super heavy rain events don’t last more than 10-15 minutes at a time. Within a very...

    Cleaning an auto cover

Our covers have averaged around eight years before needing replacement. Each failure was related to edge rope/binding failure rather than any degradation of the cover material. Binding failure on the first couple of covers was likely acellerated by user error (not power washing tracks in...

    Cleaning an auto cover

Auto cover here for past 18 years - never used any chemicals on it as they will end up in the pool. Toward end of swim season a squeegee (large one on a pole) is used for pushing leaves to far end as cover is retracted. Pressure washer is used once a year prior to closing. Dead crow doll from...

Method to locate a sneaky leak?

Wetness was found around the pool pump. The pump is about three feet below the pool water level. A seal Kit has been ordered for the ancient Hayward 1hp Superpump. We have had a replacement pump on hand for six or seven years just in case, and will try That if the existing Pump cannot be...

Method to locate a sneaky leak?

Thank you for the reply. Minor tightening of the union stopped the slow drip. Currently have had no notable loss of water in the shell with both scuppers and returns plugged over 48 hours. One of the scupper gizmos was removed today (Tuesday) around noon. intent is to check water level in...
