    Moved and New Pool Opening

Hi All, I recently moved from Richmond, VA to Sioux City, Iowa. I know the pool season is much shorter and have a nice pool to learn. First things first, I opened it this past weekend with success getting the pump primed and everything flowing. There are a few things that I haven't had...

    Order of Operations

After thinking about it, it makes sense to correct the TA first since it is a buffer for the PH. This seems similar to the CYA/FC relationship. The CYA "protects" the FC and the TA protects the PH? Is this correct? Thanks, Jim

    Order of Operations

Thanks AimeeH and Duraleigh. I put the last of my acid in last night and have to make a chem run. Will check again this AM and adjust TA followed by PH. I did add some CYA and will add the remaining today. Thanks again for the help!

    Order of Operations

I opened up the pool last weekend and have it cleaned up from deep green to perfectly clear. I checked chems this afternoon and have the following: FC = 0 PH = 8.2 TA = 40 Salt = 3200 CYA = 0 Borate = 15 Salt is good and turned on the salt generator to supply FC. I added 4 lbs of stabilzer and...

    Pool Opening in Richmond VA

Have a good weekend of weather and decided to open a few weeks early. Swampy at first but a few hours of pump running and 7 gallons of bleach make a huge difference. Added more bleach and ready for it to turn grey and wait to see the bottom. Water temp at 57 degrees but it has to climb from...

    Green Pool/Clean Pool

I have a 36,000 gallon pool and it took 2 doses of Walmart bleach at 8.25%. Total of 14 gallons, a little bit of brushing and 3 backwashes. I learned not to buy the cheap backwash hose from Home Depot. Split on the first backwash. It took the first weekend to get the algae to turn grey and then...

    Green Pool/Clean Pool

I have a two speed pump so I can minimize my power cost while running deeper in the seasons. Just have a hard stop safely before freezing temps. I usually open earlier than most in my parts at 4/1. Biggest issue would be freezing again.

    Green Pool/Clean Pool

That happened the first year, but not since. I don't mind putting in the work on the front end to have the benefit on the back end. I would love to know the secret! Thanks, Jim
