New liner & fresh water being put in tomorrow! Now what?!

Been away. Thank you so much for your response! For some reason, perhaps from being sleep deprived  I thought I recalled your response saying to add CYA first and THEN adjust PH. :hammer: Just shoot me, :grrrr: So I basically put 4lbs. of CYA in the pool skillmer basket and...

New liner & fresh water being put in tomorrow! Now what?!

Hi everyone :) After a 3 week wait our new V-bead liner should be getting installed tomorrow. Once the pool is filled with fresh water the first thing I need to do is to add the appropriate amt. of cyanuric acid for a 20,000 gallon pool, right? I'll consult a pool calculator. OK, easy...

Water is so green you could film a horror movie in it!

Just bleach? Wow, that was easy. Just one prob ... our water level is only at 2 feet and our filter isn't hooked up. Should I just mix it as best I can with our metal pool skimmer and hope for the best? Thank you! Jeannie

Water is so green you could film a horror movie in it!

That's what I'm most concerned about. My pool is a breeding ground for that right now. I'll have to go on the internet and do some research to see if there is anything I can purchase. Funny we call them skeeters too! And flip flops are called flippy floppies, and chicken nuggets are chicken...

Water is so green you could film a horror movie in it!

We are having a new liner installed in less than 10 days. In the interim our pool water is turning darker green each day. I'm sure there is mosquito larve in there and who knows what else. It's scary to look at. Since we'll be emptying it completely my hubby doesn't think we should waste the...

Inadequate lighting for night swimming .. any suggestions?

Thanks for all the pics and ideas everyone! You certainly are a helpful bunch! :-D Someone submitted a photo showing people relaxing by a fire pit. It looks so inviting! Are you looking for a new best friend? Jeannie 8)

My hubby is gonna have a fit! I think I ruined our liner!

Question: If I go to Home Depot to the lawn and garden section to purchase my CYA, am I simply looking for a container marked Cyanuric Acid? Or does it go by another name? Thanks! Jeannie 8)

My hubby is gonna have a fit! I think I ruined our liner!

That's a great idea. My neighbor just bought a small inflatible pool for her kids. I will give my old test kit to her. I have to say, I just got the TF100(?) test kit today and it looks intimidating. I'm only used to checking for ph, alkalinity and chlorine. I had no idea you could buy CYA...

Inadequate lighting for night swimming .. any suggestions?

Dave, You have a built-in pool light? You are living the good life! :goodjob: I don't think that's an option for my above ground pool. I'll probably just do what I did last year and string up a ton of small miniature white Christmas lights on the 10x10 canopy that shades our pool deck. It...

Inadequate lighting for night swimming .. any suggestions?

Hi everyone :-D Next year we are hoping to add more outdoor lighting to our yard. It's not adequately lit for nightime swimming and I get nervous when friends come over with little ones to use the pool. Last year I purchased a light designed for pools that drops into the water a bit and...

My steps are still floating up!

I don't know if the design of your steps is the same as ours, ours are very wide and look like a plastic staircase. My husband uses 2 belgian blocks to weigh ours down. Good luck. Hope this helps. Jeannie 8)

My hubby is gonna have a fit! I think I ruined our liner!

UPDATE: I ordered the TF100 test kit yesterday and it is on it's way! :whoot: Can I use the chemicals from the Walmart test kit I just bought with my new TF100 test kit? Or should I just toss all the chems that came with my Walmart test kit. P.S. I was wrong. Hubby DIDN'T have a fit...

My hubby is gonna have a fit! I think I ruined our liner!

Thanks for that info Dennis. I'm OK with having to get the new liner. It has a "glimmerglass" design and is incredibly pretty as far as liners go. Being a dark blue liner, my friends have told me that it will make my pool water look even cleaner and more inviting. I can't wait to see the...

My hubby is gonna have a fit! I think I ruined our liner!

Thank you! I tested for cyanuric acid with my Walmart test kit and I'm not getting any reading. The water is crystal clear. Does this mean I have no CYA at all and need to add some? I assume I can only purchase this at a pool store? Also, my new test kit does not test for FC. Only total...
