Aqua Cool Mini Pebble with Touch of Glass

Your picture shows Aqua cool in what looks like a shallow part of your pool. Aqua cool will show a much lighter color in shallow depth … actually only a hint of blue and mostly an off white. In your deeper depths, the light blue color should show up more, though again, Aqua Cool is quite light...

    Too much salt…

I’d suggest turning off your SWG until your salt levels are back to normal. Some prologic boards can overheat and be damaged when operated with unusually high salt levels.

    Replacing bulb, question

I had one of two new bulb installations with water creeping in after a couple of weeks. Drove me crazy removing and refitting the gasket and locking ring. Finally went to using a coat of silicon around the outside of the gasket, which worked for me. As an aside, commonly misunderstood is the...

    Replacing bulb, question

Also try undoing the retainer and flipping it the other way. This repositions how the end loops align with one another as you tighten the ring and may allow the loops to come closer as you tighten the nut. Also be sure to keep uplift tension on the retainer ring evenly on all locking hoops as...

Skimmer basket broke what to do until new one arrives.

Another stop gap measure...cut out a small triangle piece toward the top of the basket and glue it/silicone it in the opening at the bottom. The basket sides' close proximity to the walls of the skimmer pot should minimize entry of debris through the cannibalized side portion of the basket(s).

Pentair IC40 replacement after three years

Sorry to hear of the 3 year life span of your SWG cell. Prices have soared in the last 5 years making it painful these days to replace the cell. I regret not buying 2 of them at my last change out 7 years ago - this notwithstanding the gamble in running of the warranty period as it sits in my...

Is 4 drops of R0014 the de-facto for pH?

Agreed… 15 or prolly above (being evident based on the FC test color being as dark as what a urine sample from Keith Richards would look like). I accidentally let my ph drift that high one winter when I forgot to dial back both my pump run time and the T-15 salt cell run time, during a long...

Ph Meter and the Taylor drop test

FWIW, a lot of helpful information about ph meters and similar test instruments can be found on forums for fish aquarium enthusiasts. Unlike one’s pool chemistry which allows more latitude in use of reagents to get close ballpark readings, aquarium owners have to attain water specs with more...

    Hayward HTC-4-ACT-RC LCD display dead

Unfortunately, there is very little in the way of trouble shooting steps to be able to determine if it’s a bad main board or bad control/display. If you are handy with a multi meter: check for voltage at the pins where the display connects to the board by disconnecting the display’s ribbon...

Student: Trying to Learn Where People Purchase Pool Supplies

Its not the least bit revelatory that pricing and convenience drive most purchases (by non-pros anyways) in all 3 categories: 1. chemicals/maintenance supplies, 2. repair and replacement parts, and 3. equipment purchases. Pricing is the predominant factor driving the first category due to...

    Convert to Salt Water

Many SWG owners go for the overkill (higher rated cells, me included) to theoretically prolong the useful life of the cell - this purportedly achieved by dialing back the time the cell is in the on position to as low as 50%, along with some other life prolonging efforts, e.g. timely cleaning of...

New post on an old thread

Just one more question. Those searching a subject covered only in older threads often find threads with posts from a myriad of members who share their experience, expertise, admonitions, etc (and other than mods or frequent active members). Some of these posts cover matters not widely known...

New post on an old thread

I guess I don’t really understand how the explanations provided apply to a post that doesn’t really fit into the stated explanations (ie, the downside consequences), referring to a post that isn’t hijacking, is otherwise pertinent, responsive, helpful and accurate . . . but simply happens to be...

New post on an old thread

Basic question that probably is applicable to several forums, but exactly why is posting / replying to a thread older than 60 days “likely to be unread / unseen”? In a car forum I belong to, it’s quite common for ppl to post/reply to threads older than 60 days, which will populate to the top of...
