What's the advantage of having three parts?

I'd like to put a solar cover on the pool, but without any real place to pull the cover off I think a cover reel may be necessary. The problem is between the landscaping and proximity of the pool fence, there's no real place to put a reel. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Is there a way to...
