    Algae, Dust or Pollen?

Don't think maintaining shock is going to be a problem. Earlier I had turned it up to 50% and when I just tested FC was about 35, so I turned the SWG back down to 10%. Will check again tomorrow. Thanks. Howard

    Algae, Dust or Pollen?

I just added what I calculated should be enough 8.25% bleach to take me to 28 for the shock. Now my question is... What do I do with my SWG? I'm running at 30% now. Do I turn it up? To what level? Superchlorinate? Do I turn it down or off? Appreciate any helpful advice. Thanks. Howard

    Algae, Dust or Pollen?

OK, so I better get some bleach on it. My shock level looks like 28. Thanks for straightening me out. Howard

    Algae, Dust or Pollen?

Not sure what I have in my pool. Started opening things up 2 weeks ago and have sequentially run through a series of repair and replacement issues after a winter of neglect. Here's last week's water settings: Salt = 3640ppm FC = 0 pH = 7.2 CYA = 0 TA = 60 CH = 200 I replaced my salt cell...

Help for New Pool Filter That I Don't Understand

So, another 18 months have come and gone, and I've cleaned these cartidges a few times ( about 4 or 5) since I originally posted this topic. But I'm now suspicious that it might be time to replace the cartidges. While I didn't install it, I believe the cartidges are at least 5+ years old right...

Trying to Get Water in Balance

OK, I added the suggested bleach/CYA and waited a week for the water to fully reflect the changes. Filter is running 24/7 and pool water looks good. Here's the current data as of this morning: Water temp: 67 degrees Salt = 3640ppm per strip FC = 7 CC = 0 pH = 7.7 CYA = 70 TA = 70 CH = 200...

Trying to Get Water in Balance

Actually the water looks pretty good. We've had a very cool Spring until last week so I might have dodged a bullet there. Biggest current water issue is all the pollen on top. Howard

Trying to Get Water in Balance

One last question: Do I have to wait a week for the CYA stabilizer to dissolve before I put the new salt cell in, or can I safely start it up now? I'll get FC to 10 via bleach, but looking forguidance if I need to keep the bleach going for a week.. Thanks. You guys are the best. Thanks for...

Trying to Get Water in Balance

Last year was my first summer living in a home with a SWG pool. After applying BBB the prior year in a more traditional pool I just loved the lower workload, and I must admit after the first few tests all kept coming back solid, I pretty much adopted a "set it and forget it" management plan...

How SWG Works With Pump Timer

That's exactly what I need to know. Make sure the electrician wires the timer so that it controls both the pump and the AquaRite. Thanks. Howard

How SWG Works With Pump Timer

In process of adding a pump timer and thinking through how this will impact my SWG cell. If the Goldline AquaRite controller is set on "auto" but the pump gets turned off, what is the impact on the SWG? Does it stay energized without any flow? Do I have to turn it off also? Don't want to...

    Adding a Pump Timer?

No heater required. In Memphis the water gets to 90 degrees + all by itself. Howard

    Adding a Pump Timer?

Ask for the stars, maybe get the moon? If the Intermatic Mechanical timer is the best value maybe that's what I need. How do most people handle winter freezing conditions? Howard

    Adding a Pump Timer?

I've spent all week cleaning my filter, tracking down and fixing a pressure problem related to an impeller full of junk, and have just ordered a replacement salt cell. You'd think that would be enough for any one week. But you'd be wrong. One good benefit of spending so much time on the...
