Should I install a flow meter?

Rate of filtration doesn't matter? Meaning, aren't we shooting for some x daily turn overs? I've seen anywhere from 1 to 3 turn overs a day, but first time I hear it doesn't matter. Say I had enough flow on swcg and heater, but very low flow rate of filtration (ie. equivalent of 1 pool volume a...

Should I install a flow meter?

I looked the specs of my equipment (all Jandy), and there is no flow meter. Are folks mostly ok guesstimating flow and turn over rates going by the pump's specs? My equipment pad is not setup yet, so it would be fairly easy to do it at this time. I would probably do the flowvis digital. Do I...

    new plaster acid start up

I have been reading up on pool care on this site for weeks now, and this is the first time I run into something like this elsewhere: Is this a thing? is the start up of new plaster really this complicated? no equipment can run for a month, no swimming for even longer. heavy doses with acid to...

Tested my two fill water options with Taylor K-2006-SALT - thoughts?

one last question, what role does TDS play compared to all the other parameters we normally control (TA, pH, CH, FC, CYA, etc)? If those are kept in range, does TDS matter? My water report says my TDS is in the mid-high 600s. Does that info matter at all, does it have any impact on anything, do...

I see you areator in the pic in your article. Can you share what's int here? is it connected to a sump pump in the bottom? I see a pipe coming out on the top under the sand bag or whatever that is. I would like to build something similar if I can

Last minute changes on concrete pool as gunite is being shot

Well, I only have myself to blame I suppose for not making sure everything was accounted for. As stupid as this may sound, I just learned recently that baja shelves can be at different depths. Our architect asked "do you want a shelf?", we said "yeah!", then we agreed on the area, but never...

Tested my two fill water options with Taylor K-2006-SALT - thoughts?

I see, makes sense! thank you So, if I am starting with TA of 260, I will be fighting this thing for daaaaaaays to get it down in the 100s, right? holy Crud I assume this will only be an issue after the first time I fill the pool, as subsequent fill top offs will only increase it by a bit.

Tested my two fill water options with Taylor K-2006-SALT - thoughts?

thanks, but still doesn't make sense, why are we aerating the pool to lower TA instead of just adding MA to it? Lowering TA is doable with MA, right? the problem is that pH will also lower, and cannot be raised without also raising TA, and that's why we aerate, to raise pH without raising TA...

sorry, why do you say reduce TA? We can reduce TA with muriatic acid, I though we are discussing aeration to raise PH without raising TA, right? confused

Tested my two fill water options with Taylor K-2006-SALT - thoughts?

thanks for that link! so for 30K pool, what would be a rough ball park of how long it could take for someone to reasonably raise pH by some delta (say, 0.1 increment) with aeration? I understand this question is vague because it depends on other things like aeration method, efficacy, etc, but...

It will be 3 of these lion heads about 10 ft apart, powered by a 1.85hp variable speed jandy pump https://www.aquabellatile.com/project/lio-noc/ They are small like 6 inches tall I believe, hard to tell from the picture There is also a built-in spa with 5 jets, but not sure how much that can...

Tested my two fill water options with Taylor K-2006-SALT - thoughts?

So, I carefully re-tested TA twice, got exactly 260 both times, counting 1 drop after color stopped changing to red. Interestingly enough, I ended up pulling the water report online for my service area: https://www.amwater.com/caaw/resources/PDF/CCR-reports/hiddenhills_2024.pdf The average TA...

TDS water tester - are these ok?

I'm looking into a inline fill RO system, which has a feed spec of 2500ppm max TDS https://www.purewaterindustries.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/PWF-SERIES-FILL-LINE-2023.pdf I'm in contact with the owner for a quote, and he asked me for this info
