Hayward Sense and Dispense in Spa vs Pool Mode

Should a Hayward Sense and Dispense system (AQL-CHEM) turn off the dispensing of acid automatically when the ProLogic goes into "spa mode"? My S&D reads pH too high (vs a manual test) when in system is in spa mode (e.g., 8.5 instead of 7.5), but is accurate when in pool mode. This causes the...

    Rio Olympic pool

Says here Log In - The New York Times that a worker mistakenly added hydrogen peroxide to the pool, which neutralized the chlorine in a way that the chlorine sensors could not detect.

Sense and Dispense measures pH too high in spa vs pool

The pH probe is before the heater. Yes, by "spa mode" I mean the control panel causing the valves to automatically rotate to so that the filtration system is now working only on the spa.

Sense and Dispense measures pH too high in spa vs pool

The inaccurate reading starts immediately when the system is switched to spa mode. So at one moment in pool mode, the SnD is reading accurately, and as soon as it switches to spa mode, the SnD stops reading accurately. Because the SnD starts reading a pH of 8.5 in spa mode, it starts dumping...

Sense and Dispense measures pH too high in spa vs pool

TA is 90. I haven't asked for a new probe yet because it reads perfectly in pool mode, as validated by multiple sources. interesting observation about the spa jets causing increase in pH, but as you say, jumping to 8.5 every day seems a bit extreme, and in any event, a manual test of the pH...

Sense and Dispense measures pH too high in spa vs pool

My Hayward Sense and Dispense system is accurate in measuring pH in my pool. Manual tests match the Sense and Dispense value. However, when the system is in spa mode, the Sense and Dispense routinely measures pH as too high compare to a manual test. I am talking like 8.5 vs 7.5. This causes the...

How to fix leak at seam of plaster and coping

My elevated spa is leaking at the joint between the plaster and the coping. How do I make this seam watertight? The pool builder mason came out and attempted to apply some sort of white material at the joint, which does not look good, but did not fix the leak. They do not appear to know how to...

Cleaning narrow trough - what to use?

I have a weeping water wall feature in which water pours out of the top of the wall and drains into a 6 in. wide and deep trough that is connected to the pool. The trough catches a lot of sediment and debris and it is very difficult to keep it clean. What kind of equipment would you recommend...

Major Mistake = Cloudy. Please Help.

Yes, I planned on addressing alkalinity first, and then I was going to add the salt and then the stabilizer (within the same afternoon). Unfortunately, I made the boneheaded mistake on the first step....

Major Mistake = Cloudy. Please Help.

I was all ready to do some pool chemistry today after some major rainfall activity. I measured the following this morning: FC: 0 TAC: 0 Salt: 2400 hardness: 250 CYA: 0 TA: 50 ph: 8 So, I INTENDED to first put in 15 pounds of sodium bicarbonate. However, instead I mistakenly grabbed the sodium...

    Flagstone Coping Edge Treatment

I love the look of your hand-chipped. Not sure what went wrong with mine or how to fix it.

    Flagstone Coping Edge Treatment

My PB has installed flagstone coping around my pool. As they shaped it, they left chisel/chip marks all along the edges. Is this normal? I don't like the look. What did they do wrong? How do you get rid of these marks?
