    Chlorine Bleach in Dallas Area

No I did not! I did let them test my water, pH 8.0, TC 6.0 CYA 40, CH 175 which was vastly different from my measurements at the house, pH 7.5, TC 4.5, CYA 30, CH 220. I'm going to stick with my numbers for now...

    Chlorine Bleach in Dallas Area

If it's $18/bottle then I walked away with 12 free bottles the other day without them ever saying a thing, even helping to carry the 16 gallons to my car...

    Chlorine Bleach in Dallas Area

Jim, They are not refillable, they're the Blue Whale Shock Chlorinator like this one on amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Whale-Shock-Chlorinator-4-Gallons/dp/B01J4ERF3W/ref=pd_ybh_a_24?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=4ZZSJD20PPSQV69SM289 ) only for $18. I dilute them down to 6% before putting...

    Chlorine Bleach in Dallas Area

HASA store is about $22/4 gallon after initial deposit for the jugs. I found Leslie's on HWY 26 in Colleyville is selling 12.5% for $17.99 for 4 gallons. Bought 4 cases of the stuff, it should last me a while. Cheapest liquid I could find in this part of the woods.

New pool, pH is steady with nothing being added. Problem?

Update: Now that the pool has been going for 3 weeks, all the trichlor tablets gone, I'm seeing a constant steady climb in pH with bleach that is to be expected. Oh well, the no acid was fun while it lasted...

New pool, pH is steady with nothing being added. Problem?

Richard, BINGO! I forgot that I've been steadily adding 5 lbs of trichlor through the inline chlorinator to use them up and increase my CYA. I guess once those are gone my acid demand will go up with it.

New pool, pH is steady with nothing being added. Problem?

Jim, It was 150 and I couldn't get the darn thing to come down ever. On this one I started at 70 and added 8 lbs of baking soda to bring it up a bit. I have bubblers and fountains so my TA drops every time I use it. Th eonly disappointmnet I have so far is that I have a 15 gallon stenner setup...

New pool, pH is steady with nothing being added. Problem?

I have a new pool, 16 days going now, and my pH is sitting at 7.5 with nothing being added. I'm used to pouring in acid by the gallons on my last pool but on this one I have only added about half a gallon total after the pH crept up to 7.6. Is this a good problem to have? How come I don't see...

    Chrolrine with Ozone

Thanks Tim for the tip! I shall do that. This retail bleach pricing is killing me! I just paid $18 for 4 gallons of 12.5% stuff. I need to find a cheaper source.

    Chrolrine with Ozone

I don't even have 30 ppm of CYA so I bought some stabilizer tonight and dropped 4 lbs in the pool. I'll see how high it goes in a few days and re-adjust accordingly.

    Chrolrine with Ozone

Side discussions are fine, I think the takeaways for me so far are 1) Ozone does not make a difference in FC level requirements no matter what the Ozone manufacturers claim. 2) Ozone may help with water bodies that have high bio residuals that can be reduced via oxidation but it does not help...

    Chrolrine with Ozone

This is why I think running a 3GPD Stenner setup with a variable speed pump at super low speed setting 23-24 hours a day makes sense. I can dispense chlorine to the pool during the day at the same rate as it's getting consumed essentially and always maintain a relatively constant chlorine level...

    Chrolrine with Ozone

OK, just as I promised, here is the test data from my measurements. No Ozone: 9PM - 5.6 PPM 4AM - 5.0 PPM 8PM - 1.0 PPM Ozone: 9PM - 7.6 PPM 4AM - 6.8 PPM 8PM - 2.0 PPM The second day the sun and temps were a bit higher, my pool reached 95 degrees itself and I started with a much higher TC...

    Chrolrine with Ozone

Tim, Make no mistake, I'm a bleach guy myself. The ozonator I have (DEL Ozone 50 (EC-20)) does not have UV, only Corona Discharge. I will not be replacing it once it serves its expected life, about 5 years. I should have asked for a discount rather than an install of the system, I think my...

    Chrolrine with Ozone

CYA is just under 30. Last night with ozone on I lost 0.8 PPM so the ozone cost me an additional 0.2 PPM compared to no ozone from the night before. Hardly the excessive loss some anecdotes claim. We'll see how much it drops by tonight to get info for the full day.
