Need to be concerned about high CH?

Okay, did some more testing/research. Tested the water from the kitchen sink and got the same results as the outdoor spigot. So, it is apparent that the water softener is indeed supplying the outdoor spigots as well. I really thought the water softener was interior of the house only. So, this...

Need to be concerned about high CH?

Thanks MITS, We do have a water softener system, but it does not include the outdoor water spigots. I got the water from the spigot on the back of the house, the same line that taps into it and feeds the pool which also has the backflow filter on it. Unless I am misunderstanding you on this...

Need to be concerned about high CH?

So, I have finally been able to enjoy our pool on a more regular basis now that temps are at 100 and above. Since we just finished our pool last September, I have yet to experience a full desert summer with the pool, so I'm sure there are many things I am yet to learn and discover. Right now, I...

    Outdoor wireless (rock) speakers

So, I have read through a few posts and was looking for more thoughts/opinions on wireless speakers where I can connect my iDevice to them. I am partial to the rock designs as they would blend in more nicely with an already rock backyard. The in-ground look pretty slick too but I am assume...

Post Night Time Pictures of your Pool

Not great night shots, but here are a few from a couple of months ago. I added the palm tree lights just after taking the photos with the tiki torches in them. Between the tikis, the palms, a fire pit and changing LED pool light, it's quite a pleasant place to just hang out now. Worlds different...

    Almost 2 months in!

So, I know this is a little late in reporting back. I tested the water from the hose that was used to fill the pool. The CH test came back at 10. The first drop added changed it from pink to blue. I assume then this means I have some of the softest water around, mainly because of our salt water...

    Almost 2 months in!

Thanks for the replies. I do understand the new plaster is what keep the pH continually climbing and that it could take up to a year before it settles down. I did nis-read some things about the trichlor. The plaster dust itself was gone after about a week, but I brushed 3-4 times a day for the...

    Almost 2 months in!

So, our pool has been completed almost 2 months ago now. I was able to get in in about 3 times up until about 3 weeks ago. Water temp currently has been holding between 73-76, a wee bit too chilly for me to brave a full body swim. Walking around the baja shelf up to knee depth is not so bad. Air...

Newbie from AZ--9/23 Getting closer to finish line

This may be late in posting, but I also would choose the far right (dark) as it does offer a really nice contrast. Beautiful pool btw, any new pics?

Finally did some testing with new Taylor K-2006

Tested this morning, pH was down to 7.6, added another double of MA, maybe that'll get it down to 7.2 for little while where I can than keep better control and use less MA to maintain. The FC is up to 7.5 today, CC is still coming in at .5 (1 drop)

Finally did some testing with new Taylor K-2006

Yes, the CC was 0.4, my mistake. I only had to add 1 drop. It was the same tonight (1 drop) using the 0.5 test. Added more bleach tonight as well as nearly doubled the MA amount in an attempt to really drop the pH. Hopefully I'll see positive changes in the morning and feel at least like I'm...

Finally did some testing with new Taylor K-2006

So, having started up the pool just about 3 weeks ago, I finally ordered a real test kit instead of trying to read colors on strips! A bit more involved but MUCH more accurate. It will take a little getting used to as it took me quite a while to run all the tests today. As the pool is brand new...

    Solar cover thickness/pattern help?

Thanks guys. I guess I'll save a few extra dollars and just get the regular 12mil cover. $83 with free shipping ins't that bad, even if it only last 1-2 years. I assume though if I cut it, that voids the warranty? I cannot find any details or specifics on the warranty.
