some places are almost 24" while other 12"

so...there is no necessity to build a drainage...just back filled?, what happens when it rains? and the water zips in....???

A friend of mine is trying to build a deck around this pool...but we must first address the water drainage issue around the pool, I have an in ground, so i really don't know what to do, can anyone help???? You can see that there is a gag between the pool to the ground of about 12"....

I am trying to replace the valves to my system,,,all of the valves handles have broken off, plastic got week after 4 year of sun, rain...etc. Now I have to replace them and after calling to get an estimate, they want 900.00 to get those 5 valves and the digital timer, which I have found online...
