There aren't any threads on this lid; it just turns 1/4 turn and locks in place. But I did lube up all the outside of the lid once the O-ring was in place!

You are right, it's an S210T and I'll change the signature accordingly. There is usually one or two small air bubbles in the top of the pump basket, which I assumed resulted from the shape of the lid (since it's curved upwards, it's really difficult to fill the basket to the top of the lid)...

My understanding about the water is that it's added so that the sand makes little to no impact on the "fingers" of your filter assembly, and therefore reduces the risk of breaking one of the fingers, which can be fragile. I don't think it would really count as a mistake, but rather a better way...

Thanks Charlie, the pool lube (and cleaning the edges) worked like a charm! I was able to get into the pool for the first time yesterday (had to install a new ladder) and I'm so happy with the quality of the water. I am looking forward to a terrific summer of enjoying my pool!

If I ask what is pool lube I think that answers your first question. So, what is pool lube? Where can I get it? If I am going to detach and reattach the valve do I need to drain the filter again?
