Not enough water flow for my cleaner

Moved from here... https://www.troublefreepool.com/posts/1735352/bookmark There is no longer enough flow to power my Great White crawler thing. I used to get it to run when the vacuum guage reads 12 in Hg (adjusted by partly closing the floor drain valve). But now at that setting the flow...

Where did you guys buy your Taylor K-2006C test kits?

It seems that the K-2006 has been replaced by the K-2005. The powder is gone, replaced by two liquid reagents. Are there special TFP instructions for using this formulation? Before I would use 1 scoop of the DPD powder.

Saturation index off the charts after lots of rain

Thank you. I have updated some recent log entries to record salt levels (from my spreadsheet I use for plotting) and turned on tracking for it.. Salt level was staying steady at 3100 until this recent pattern of daily thunderstorms. I will change my goal pH higher, I was just going by the...

Saturation index off the charts after lots of rain

My history of measurements is in my TFP profile. Suddenly after several days of rain, my CSI is down to -0.52 and I need guidance on which factor to correct first. I have had to drain about 1.5 inches of water out of the pool, and add 10 lbs of salt. None of the numbers look unusual except...

    What's your current pool temp?

I shut my solar heater off two weeks ago, as the sun shining on the pool is enough to warm it to 94 degrees or more. But three fourths of the year the solar system comes on as the Sun is lower behind the trees, and putting energy into the water in the morning helps extend the season. In the...

    Cleaning the FAS-DPD scoop

It has two "test tubes" joined together into one piece of plastic which also incorporates the pH color chart. The smaller tube is used only for the CYA test. The larger tube, marked at 10ml, 25ml, and 45ml points, is used for everything else. The FC and the PH tests both use the large tube.

    Cleaning the FAS-DPD scoop

I found out by accident that cleaning carefully after doing the FAS-DPD test is really essential if you do the pH test next. Any contaminents in the test tube from the FAS-DPD test will make the pH read super high. To help, I now also always do the pH test first.

    Cleaning the FAS-DPD scoop

The instructions say two scoops regardless of which sensitivity you use. I use the 10mL level anyway so if one scoop is enough I'll do that.

    Cleaning the FAS-DPD scoop

I have a Taylor K-2006 test kit which includes the FAS-DPD test with the tube of powder R-0870 and a tiny spoon for measuring it. I am on my second such tube of powder. I notice that the little sccop never really empties even though I tap it over the comparator tube. After a while whatever is...

    Hayward Swim Pure Salt Issue

If the flow is low and the cell is installed upright (with the larger side on top) then they say the plates will not be sufficiently covered. Among other things this could lead to a "low salt" reading, which is computed based on the observed current flow. New guidance is that the cell be...

Please check my math for Chlorine consumption

Yes, that is the approach I have been taking - small changes. I can adjust power in one-percent increments. FC has been trending low the last two days so I increased power to a level that should result in a +1 ppm change per day to bring it back into the desired range. Also found CYA was a...

Please check my math for Chlorine consumption

Shouldn't the SWG power setting be exactly the same in the steady state, regardless of FC level? I would think that the power setting controls how fast it changes, not what it settles at.

Please check my math for Chlorine consumption

At least this confirms that I understand the math properly! Thank you. Now should I want to increase FC by 2 ppm per day, I would set the power knob to (1.54+2.0)*9/1.54 = 21% then when it reaches the desired level back it off again to 9%.

Please check my math for Chlorine consumption

I am gradually adjusting my new SWG to maintain a constant FC. I figured that if the FC, TA, and CYA are constant over 24 hours then I am adding Chlorine as fast as the Sun etc is eating it, so I set about to calculate how much that was. (Log is in my profile) The cell is rated at 1.45 pounds...

    Cleaning Light Niche

To clean behind the light, do I just take the end of the vacuum hose off the Kreepy Krawly and run it around in there, then wash the filter? How does algae survive in darkness?
